First thing I would do is get her thyroid tested.
I would not put her on anavar to lose weight.

No short cut here. Diet and exercise only. Burn more calories than you eat. Do not start feeding her var. she has to want this. Not you. She has to scrafice for herself.

Regarding a plan, I would have her focus on cardio first, leaving the waits till later. The reason for this approach is if she starts to add muscle underneath the fat, she will actually look larger. That wouldn't sit right with me if I was her.

I really think she needs to focus on diet. I wouldn't get really complicated just stick with vegetables fruit protein.

I am curious as your wife always struggled with her weight is or has it been more recently, or more suddenly

The cardio over the weights makes sense for the reason mentioned. Additionally, recent studies have declared that a pound of muscle only burns around 10-15 calories a day not 50.

Congratulations to you and your wife for starting this difficult odyssey. You must really love each other. Very Impressive!

She has always struggled with her weight because she has a hefty appetite and do not burn as much as she consumes.

that's why is called disapline and self control.... no amount of steroids will fix that problem

if she wants to be lean and healthy she needs to step up

Jonbana I totally agree however, she is making huge strides to get there but like Capebuffalo stated that I want it for her maybe more than she does for now, stay tuned.

Maybe you should steer her toward low-impact stuff like elipticals and the ERG rower so she doesn't get shin splints, joint trouble, and sore feet. I just bought a foot vibrating pad from costco. I just started running again and my feet were killing me. I use it right before bed so that the circulation will be stimulated while I'm off my feet. Oh, and real nice thickly cushioned New Balance shoes.

What I've seen in the years as a trainer is that many men AND women in their 40's have a hormone imbalance. Diet and exercise will have a limited effect on her body recomposition if her chemistry is not sound. It is amazing what a little Test in a woman can do for her body composition. The change will have to come from the inside out. Work on the body chemistry and the mental discipline, first. Then the exercise and diet will yield a much more successful result. Good luck.

Negative on the anavar. A discipline diet and cardio routine is what she needs right now.

I posted a comment on your other thread with similiar comments. Do it together and hold each other accountable. Good Luck.

This. Proper levels of iodine in her diet?
    Anavar ,no man.
HGH,perhaps if a doc can prescribe it. But I would do some bloodwork first and see where she stands.
