Estrogen: (Ultrasensitive assay) v (estrone & total estrogen)

My TRT doc prefers -estrone- and -total estrogen- (and maybe -total estradiol- but I can't remember for sure). I disagree because knowledge from here, other web pages, and other TRT docs and Endos seem to prefer the Ultrasensitive. Is there any reasoning to explain his preference?

I always ask for a sensitive e2 assay, and further ask for a full hormone panel. It'll usually cover everything.

Anybody have any idea why this doc would want estrone and total estrogen instead of ulta-sens?

My natty total estrogen and "regular" E2 are always flagged high but once my general physician ordered the sensitive E2 test and came back high normal (30), he basically told me to gtfo.

Sensitive E2 tests are literally only $40..
