Which Blood Pressure Monitor

I bought a basic Omron 3 series BP Monitor. Omron claims it fits BOTH standard and large adult arms (arm sizes 9"-17"). Only AFTER I bought it and used it I'm thinking to myself how can 1 piece of equipment be considered both "standard" and "large" at the same time. The cuff just squeezes the living sh** out of my arm when taking it, almost to the point of hurting/being uncomfortable. And it's telling me my systolic is 192, which is absurd. I tried to take other readings and the systolic still seems higher than normal. But according to Omron my 15.5 arms should work no problem, but I'm starting to doubt here obviously.

So I researched and found out a smaller cuff on a larger arm can and often does cause false readings. What do us bodybuilders with larger arms do? I looked up another brand on Amazon that fits arms 16.5"-23", maybe something like that?

This whole arm sizes and whats suppose to fit, etc etc is really confusing me.

I,have to different brands,from Wal-Mart both give me different readings even with a,larger cuff. Drives me nuts but i know my bp definitely isnt 115/60 on cycle when i can feel my pulse pounding in my head and my face is all red.

Omron used to have XXL cuffs for their meters. You have to recalibrate the meter when changing cuffs, but isn't difficult. Basically adjust the valve that controls the air bleed down time.

LifeSource used to make on that came with a XXL cuff already installed, but I really prefer Omron.

If you're used to using the old school manual sphygmomanometers and a stethoscope, you can sometimes find them online. It's a little awkward but it works.

Ideally, it's best to take measurements several times/day and get an average and track it that way. Your BP varies a decent amount dependent on time of day, activity levels, stimulant intake, etc.

I'd stay with Omron, but like you said no more larger cuffs. Not really interested in re-caliberating, I'll just return the monitor.

At one time, Omron would calibrate for free if you sent it to them. Maybe shoot them an email and explain the situation. I'm thinking they must manufacture a cuff for bariatric patients and may have some on hand? IDK, worth a shot?

FWIW, I prefer Omron as well.
