    2019 Olympia realists and discussion

not sure how many of you guys all follow pro bodybuilding or not , or watched the event streaming live this weekend.

what were your thoughts on the results and the show overall

couple of my main thoughts about the results

    - was very disappointed with William Bonac placing 2nd over Hadi Choopan 3rd.. Williams legs/quads were clearly downsized from is last few showings and lacked fullness (I'm guessing he had an undisclosed knee injury during prep), plus his abs were not that sharp and are losing detail (his 6 pack has gone to crap) . where as Hadi's quads are ridiculously full and super defined and separated and Hadi's abs are shredded, defined, and perfectly semetrical. . also , knowing how much muscle William carries on his short frame I thought Hadi would be a bit undersized when they stood together,, but shit Hadi was bigger and wider then William especially from the back .
Hadi should of got 2nd, not William.

    - Brandon Curry .. figured he would win. he came in fuller then he needed to be and so thus didn't dry out like he could have to have all the sharp details . but he has the best overall structure with quality muscle (on stage that day). he had the aesthetics and the size (just not as sharp as he could have been) .. totally enough to win in that line up.

    - Cedric Mcmilans physique is frickin awesome if he can ever get really ripped and dry he would dominate

    classic physique
    - big fan of Chris Bumstead. I was rooting for him to win !! but watching the show I didn't think he should have won. when he cuts down to make that weight, he starts to become stringy and to 'skinny' looking because of his height (they need to increase the weight limits for the taller guys in classic) , AND his back especially loses a ton of details and fulllness .
if he could come in with 15 pounds of more stage weight though , his physique would be stellar .
I think Breon was more complete all around and just as conditioned as Chris .

    - George Peterson.. have no clue how this dude can ever make the 192 weight class. he is massive and packs on a ton of muscle ,, just the oppose of Chris Bumstead that that can look skinny on stage. he is the most bodybuilding looking guy on stage . he was the most conditioned as well . so him getting 3rd just goes to show that "classic physique" is NOT just a muscle contest , or George would have won.

    - classic physique class posing routines are frickin stellar and what all bodybuilding should be . the open class bodybuilding routines are a joke (just dudes hitting most musculars and walking around the stage with their extended guts trying to fist pump and urge the crowd to make noise)

    - mens physique -- they all look the same. its just a gimmick to have this class at such a high level (even though they all work hard).. the judges just seem to randomly pick whoever they feel like year after year . no real bodybuilding type criteria for this class at all . at least have them do real comparison rounds and actual posing and make it a real competition.

    - womens bikini - I'm moving to Brazil one day .. thats all I can say about that

What was up with Choopan’s delts? Is that a result of fucking up his SEO protocol? Other than that he made a very impressive Olympia debut.

Rolley pulled a big Ramy. Posts videos and pictures of himself six weeks out looking massive and then comes holding 10 pounds of water. As a Rolley fan I really wish Gearheaded would hook up with him for prep. Oxygen gym might be the shit for putting muscle on guys, but they can’t prep them worth a shit. If Rolley ever came in Charger nasty hard he’d dominate.

I was also really impressed with Steve Kuclo this year. If he keeps doing what ever he did this year, he’s going to be the next big thing.

I told my wife that if Oxygen gym ever offered me a job to come train guys, prep guys, etc.. which paid 100k per year and provided me a lambo for a company car , I'd go do it.. (as many of you know in a not too long ago past life I had way more then that. but gave it up for the fitness industry)

funny thing is about 30 mins after telling her that , she found an online add for Oxygen gym stating they were hiring trainers .
I was like WTF , you found that that quick . guess the bitch wants me out of the county (kidding)

oxygen is very very very well known for bringing guys in way way to full and watery and bloated . this has happened for years. their "peak weak" protocol is F'd up somehow . shit I heard they had big Ramy carbing up on fruit and insulin one year . WTF ! fructose, fiber, AND insuliin . the only thing thats going to fill out is your gut.
they need to dial in sodium manipulation, diuretics, adolstreone, glycogen loading, etc.. way more . I think Guru Ameen Alai (who lives about 40 miles from me) would be a good fit over their just to learn the water manipulation strategies (which I've learned a lot from Ameen in those regards) .

Roelly could have won. he carries the most muscle pound for pound and his waist can be super tight when he is dry and super lean (which doesn't happen often). Brandons structure is still better though.

    Roelly broke my heart.

I feel like he should have won last year and was straight cheated out of it.

I also feel like the bearded guy... Cant remember his name was overlooked.

    He had perfect proportion.

I don't think he is SEO'ing his delts . I think he has just been shooting most his gear in his delts. Hani Rambod his new coach probably instructed him to do this . Hani is Phil Heath's coach .. Phil Heath biggest weak point when coming up the ranks was that his shoulders were not wide enough,, well over the years Phils shoulders got wider and wider , rounder and rounder. not saying its the spot injecting gear that brought things up , just saying Hadi could just of been doing that type of thing going into wanting to compete in the open division that last few months .
he doesn't need that though, Hadi is plenty wide

    Luke Sandow , correct

he was overlooked . but I followed his entire prep.. something went wrong the last few days. he got blurry. his goal was to come in fuller and rounder in this show then the Tampa pro .. but I think it went slightly wrong and he spilled over . plus I know he started smoking weed a day or so before the show to help him sleep (weed is legal in Vegas) <-- bad idea, wtf

yes. Luke sandoe .. but I guarantee you he will be changing his name to Luke Sandow once he gets the Sandow trophy one day (I think he is totally capable of that ,, he is only like 28 years old and his shit is on point for sure).

he needs to stay injury free and not ego lift just to make a new PR for his log book (all you DC training guys, take note, half the time you ego lift to make a PR for your damn log book ! but when the hell has an Olympia bodybuilding judge ever asked you how much you bench or squat or how many PR's you broke this year !!! .. they only care about your stage presence)

^ having said that .. his heavy progressive overload DC style training is clearly working for him and he is extremely well rounded. IF you want to progress quickly in bodybuilding and add on size , its a training system that can help for sure if you have the genetics for it

just to clarify -- I'm a fan of weed being legal , it can be a tool (I don't partake much myself really but have plenty of times) . my point here is never do something new in prep , especially two days out from a show, that you haven't been used to doing your entire prep to begin with .
if he hadn't smoked weed most his prep, and then smoked some, he could easily of generated immune system responses causing inflammation and then water retention that would last days .

if he hadn't been sleeping good for most of his prep , but he looked awesome 2 weeks out ,, GUESS WHAT, its ok if he doesn't sleep good when he is in Vegas for the olympia. thats what his body has been adapting to .. the minute he adds weed into the mix and has a great night sleep perhaps, he changes all sorts of rhythms that have been going on in the body , plus add a possible inflammatory substance in his body that will cause water retention

live an learn . this won't be his first and only Olympia

Been there done that..... not Olympia, but started something new two weeks out. Took HGH and gained 10 lbs of water weight. Luckily I had 4 days to get back to where I was.

Posing routines seem pretty gay to me.
Its bad enough being a guy in tiny panties on a stage flexing. Now we need to add in expressional dance to please people?

"Well Tom, Roelly is trying to coax the crowd into cheering. I don't like that."

"Yes Ed, I am not a fan of thaat either. I like jazz hands and more expressive hip movement."

This shit gets any gayer and I wont ever be getting on stage.

"You can see in the expression this is a complex routine. Its telling us a story about shrunken testes."

I think those guys over at Oxygen don’t drop enough of their gear going into the Olympia so when they re-carb they get spill over.

Everything was impossible until somebody did it!

    I've got 99 problems......but my squat/dead ain't one !!

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

Light travels faster then sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I get your point .. but remember , Half the audience may be female, the other quarter may be gay, and 90% of the judging panel is probably also gay (I,e, why make a career out of judging near naked men if you wren't somewhat gay) . so a good posing routine that is "gay" is just appealing to the audience and the judges that are actually there. they don't win or lose based on our opinions. they win or lose based on those they actually have to stand in front of half naked. and that may be a near gay audience and judging panel

    just saying

I know Charger went to the Olympia this year .. and he likes Latina women so he is probably not one of the many gays in the audience . just saying

I know this was like a week ago now but I watched the live feed.

Roelly was a huge disappointment. Ya he was huge but he was soft and watery as hell. Looked like crap.

Cedric was amazing. His delts and traps are out of this world!!

Curry looked impressive but I thought hadi was better. Hadi was so shredded it was crazy. His quads are amazing and his back is so wide. But I’m not an expert by any means so idk. I had Hadi first, then curry, bonac, dexter, in that order.

I agree with you too on classic physique being what open used to be. They are really huge yet aesthetic and they actually pose!!

I feel Hadi should have place either first or second, but curry was huge as fuck.

I think Chris shouldn't have won, he looked a bit flat.

    Those are just my opinions.

Breon is more complete all around. better back, better biceps, no weak points.. but heck Chris was totally off last year and watery and he only lost by one point . this tells you the judges see Chris as the ideal classic physique . if the judges wanted him to win last year when he was off , its no wonder he won this year when he was spot on.

that was a deal breaker ! also what was a deal breaker is they don't allow women in their gym , heck I can't get though training sessions with clients without having some eye candy to look at once in awhile
