My girl lives out there, and they outlawed plastic grocery bags. they let stores charge you 5¢ for paper if they want. unlike NYC and suffolk county, they did not mandate the 5¢ charge for paper bags, they left it up to the individual store to decide.
Growing up, every store gave you your groceries in FREE paper bags, nobody charged for that. Now they claim it is too cost prohibitive to do that. bullshit. they did it for 150 years. these stupid fascist environmental groups actually got business onboard with their craziness, and now i cant even get paper bags to pack my old newspaper in to put it out for recycle nights.
Does anyone know which supermarkets in nassau county offer free paper bags at the checkout? I get stuck doing shopping with her so i get what i like, and i cant bring myself to pay 5¢ a bag for paper bags.
