High DHT Bad. Curbing the side effects Help.

My DHT is too high and has been for awhile. i know it's bad to have high DHT-Bad for the prostate. How in the heck to i curb the negative side effects of high DHT?

high DHT is usually self inflicted.. you are either taking something that converts heavily to DHT or your taking something that lowers your SHBG and is thus increasing free DHT..

that answer is simply to lower your dose, or switch compounds

for example, if you were taking high dose test along side Primo.. yes your DHT will be high.
if you switched to very low dose test and ran that with say Deca, your DHT would not be high

I know it’s frowned upon by some on here, but finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces DHT by about 70%. I’ve been on it for about 6 months and Im not noticing any negative side effects yet.

Do some research and see if it’s worth it for you.

keep in mind that Fina only reduces one specific form of DHT.. not total DHT in general.

just like estrogen , DHT has many different forms and variances.. what is there like 30+ different forms of estrogen in the body. same with DHT

proviron, but check your E2, guessing its high making the SHBG. For reference mine is 5-8 usually. Im kind of a freak tho.

At first you mentioned high DHT... now you mention high SHBG.
Do you have both high are just a typo?

E2 is normal, SHBG is high-62. 50 is max normal value

sorry brother, NO .. Proviron would just exasberate the effects of high DHT and make it worse (all Proviron is is a DHT increaser)..

OP.. make sure your not taking an AI and pushing more test to be converted over to DHT instead of estrogen.
Testosterone is like a water hose going through a two part valve.. if you squeeze off one valve too much the water flows more through the other valve. blocking the E2 valve pushes more flow to the DHT valve (if that makes sense)


if you wanted to go "extreme" and get DHT down. you could simply run a Deca only cycle for awhile, Deca converts to DHN and not DHT and displays no androgenic effects on DHT receptors. you could add a very low dose of Dbol (10mg per day) to get some needed estrogen (with very very minor androgenic effect)

your body likes to convert Test to DHT.. so you simply need to re think your protocol.
but personally I would not just jump on an ancillary drug like Finasteride yet without playing around with some other methods

Interesting your SHBG is so high but your E2 is in check. Also your FREE TEST is good. Typically w/that much SHBG your test gets binded up. DHT is very high... how do you feel and what is your dosage?

i'm not taking and AI. I don't think i'll go the extreme route. how does PSA play a role with DHT? perhaps i should lower my dose?

sounds like i need find out those numbers with a test.

OP, I was going to reply with how I like to run my dht on the high side of normal, but now that you posted your numbers, holy crap that is high!

I have said that I personally won't touch Fina again, but if my dht got that high, I would reconsider my stance.

Looking at your other numbers, if this is hrt, you have some opportunity to reduce your dose and or increase injection frequency.

All that said, how in the frack are you sitting at a PSA of 1.1 with dht that high?? I am jealous

over all it sounds like i need to test my T3 and T4, as well as lower my dose. fudge, i know that's the simple answer, but i kinda dont want to lower my dose, but i'll try to. does this need to get figured out before my next cycle?

-I think my receptors are more sensitive and that's why I get acne and hairloss easier.
-I used test at 200 and npp at 350 (total weekly dose) in Nov and Dec (with finasteride) and had elevated hairloss, PSA, and H&H. I know not to use nandrolone and finasteride together, now, but there is differing info on this. I'm not wanting to focus on personal feelings of good or bad with any of these numbers but objectively learn why this happened. ...and you're smart!

I dropped it to 100mg E/3 days. it was 75mg E/3 days. prior to that i was notching it up. for about i month i was taking 150mg E/3 days. i think i can attribute the high DHT to the extra test i was taking for a little minute. i wanted to pump things up a bit without getting too serious. i'll save my cycle for OCT.
