    Let’s talk masks

Unfortunately this is something we’re going to be dealing with for awhile. I tried a fabric one because those disposable ones break too easy but I felt I had a much harder time breathing through the fabric mask so I went back to those cheap disposable ones. But it’s still pretty annoying trying to breathe with it on. I have heard someone makes inserts you can put in them to space them away from your face so your not inhaling the damn thing when you breathe in through your mouth. What have you guys found that works well for training? Don’t know how I’d feel about a shield... I’d imagine it would fog up in about two seconds.

Mine is something similar to samson's, pain in the arse to be wearing them. My shitty gym is still not open yet for weight training, just hope i do not have to keep it on for a session.

I do only wear it when going in to a shop.

It doesn't make life any more worth living during lockdown, nor does it ease cravings for whiskey and cigarettes, but it's a bit less shit than having a fabric antisocialing covering your mouth.

Here it is selling from Arizona on eBay:

No way I can workout in one of these, that’s y I still haven’t gone back to the gym - at least at home, I can lift away without one

It’s good otherwise, I can wear it for about an hour when need be before it gets too sweaty & uncomfortable

At the moment my gym is open and we don't need to wear face masks. However today I will make the following proposal to the gym owner:

If there is a lockdown then I will show up every day in working clothes with steel toe cap boots and a hi-vis vest and a hard hat carrying two big tins of paint. So if anybody sees me walking in and out of the gym every day then we can say that I'm doing work. If the police knock on the door then I grab a paintbrush and start painting.

Weightlifting is work anyway if you're doing it properly.

I regularly do 45 minutes of cardio at 80%+ heart rate wearing a cloth mas., I thought at first it wouldn't be possible, but I gave it a shot and it was no problem. I'm the only one ever wearing a mask at my gym other than the staff. I don't mind what anyone else thinks, but luckily my girlfriend ordered Armed Angels masks, and they are quite stylish.

If people who wear masks when they don't have to can get a girlfriend then there might be hope for me.

Offer to help the owner blackout the windows so nobody can look in.

I was thinking of taking a small hole puncher and putting a few small breathing holes in my mask lol. I see most people with their mask pulled down off their nose aways (myself included sometimes lol) but I’m mainly a mouth breather in the gym.. my nose sucks.

Yeah I don't know how people can breath through their noses when doing hard cardio that shit is impossible for me... I'm 95% mouth breathing in the gym.

I worked for 8 months in a warehouse with asbestos. There were signs everywhere, "Danger Asbestos", but I'm not really sure what you were supposed to do when you saw those signs.

I wear the disposable ones, get a few uses out of them before I have to replace it. They breath pretty good but I still need to drop it down between sets and take longer rest. Thought about cutting a layer of two of filter material out to make it even better.

Cloth hasn’t been an issue, but uncover my nose between sets if the gym is not crowded.

LOL. Actually this gym doesn’t have a mask requirement. I’d say about 90% still wear one though.

I thought that was a requirement in CA.
My gym doesn’t require one, but they also didn’t close when they were supposed to. LOL

They were forced to open outside, but most people at 4 am go inside.
This was the other day with a little
    Dew in the air.

Damn, 4 am? Couldn’t do that. Not at my gym apparently, but I ain’t CA. But, is it that important. Is it my accent? Hell, I’m as pale as a ghost, give me some sunshine.

If it's covered and cool out there, the breeze from the open air would actually be a good thing. It always sucked to walk in to a gym that felt like a sauna from all the steam coming off other people working out.

It is a little warm during the day, but early morning is perfect... about 65 degrees.

65 is a hot day in Ireland. Parents will keep their kids home from school to go to the beach.
