Swelling hand

Bumped it Monday on the meaty part. Swells up daily. Ibuprofen and water help . It seems like I pee it out idk . It's hard to move my thumb sideways or give a thumbs up. I also find lifting my arm up I feel a warmth all through my forearm bicep and chest .


Any idea wtf is going on ?
Arthritis? Ligaments? Tendon ? Another blood clot ?

Blood clots are kinda serious, aren't they? I'd be heading to the emergency room if I thought I had a blood clot. Not tomorrow. Today.

If you have a history of throwing clots, always err on the side of caution. Do you have a genetic clotting disorder?

"Another blood clot" means you've had 'em before.
Are your primary care physicians concerned?

Are you using anything presently to mitigate clots?
Are you using any medications which might generate issues if you do use an anti-coagulant?

I had a clot about two years ago in feb. Its recorded I went to the same group of doctors associated with the hospital. My doctors weren't very concerned and said it was arthritis.

Update I turned the heat on in my house and the swelling did go down. I can't give a thumbs up . Very limited movement right or left .

I was on aspirin 325mg every day but I can't take it with my meloxicam . I did have 5 therapeutic phlebotomy this year from gear raising RBC hct and all that. They said secondary polycythemia.

I think it's a ligament or tendon right before the wrist that's messed up

So you've been to a neuro about this?

What's your age? Any previous injuries to the hand? You said you "bumped" the meaty part. Explain in more detail.

I've had all kinds of joint injuries from my time in the Army. They are no joke. You have had a blood clot in the past, so you should first rule that out. That can be serious, and you should get your butt to a doctor like yesterday.

Unless you pulled the thumb back, you aren't very likely to injure a ligament or tendon, I'd think. You'd know it when it happened, too. If yuu smacked the meaty part of your hand, you could have fractured the bone.

X-ray would confirm or rule out a fracture. You'd need an MRI to determine any ligament or tendon damage. NOTE: Ligaments and tendons don't heal themselves.

I have zero experience with blood clots.

Rotating from heat to ice and using Ibuprofen for pain & inflammation is what a doc will tell you for most minor injuries. Since you switched to asprin indicates you are worried about it being a blood clot and trying to self treat.

I get it, health care is expensive. It sucks. Know what else sucks? Being dead.
