    Appendicitis

Gonna leave this here in case anyone else has this happen to them. Friday I started getting mid upper stomach pain and nausea. I started puking, and the sensation of having to puke got worse when trying to lie down. I thought maybe I ate something or got a stomach flu. However I didn’t have to go to the bathroom.

Called my mom and she came over and palpitated my abdomen and determined I have appendicitis. I started taking amoxicillin and bactrim antibiotics along with some Advil to reduce the inflammation. Felt better but had a little bit of a fever and a tender abdomen. Saturday I felt the same, off and on nausea and pain in the lower right side of my belly. I was instructed to not eat solid foods so I just had chicken noodle soup for every meal. Today I still felt the same so my mom instructed me to go to the hospital and get a CT scan. I’ve been here all day. The dr there confirmed the appendicitis and I was put on iv fluids and antibiotics. He said I’ll need surgery.

Long story short they transferred me to another hospital that was in network with my insurance. They had to ride me in the ambulance, so that was fun. Got to talk to the EMT who had some crazy stories. Anyway, at the second hospital the surgeon there took a look at my scans and told me he’s gonna hold off on surgery and keep me overnight on the iv antibiotics and see if the infection goes away. That was a relief.

I thought about some of you guys that have had to go through much more serious things the last couple of years. Man, even a little appendicitis had me get a little estrogenic thinking “what if.” Mad props to you guys, you know who you are, for soldiering on.

Enough with the soap opera - the point is, get checked out immediately and get on some antibiotics if you feel like I felt. Better to catch it early and avoid complications. Click image for larger version.

Glad you got checked out, TM. Better to have it checked than risk a rupture.
Hope the IV antibiotics do the trick!! Keep us updated.

Thanks fellas, got back today and feeling much better. The worst part was not being able to eat anything for 24 hours. I figured I always wanted to try fasting…

I doubt that is how you wanted to go about trying fasting.

I thought appendicitis was pretty much always a surgery thing. I guess Im not up to speed on that one. Yeah its not much fun having surgeries but I tend to not go more than 2 years without having one for the last 15+ years. I think Im getting to use to it because its always one of the few times my blood pressure is normal or low because Im so relaxed. lol

    Appendicitis

Very happy to hear you are doing better. Have a semi interesting appendicitis story myself.

19-years old and winning with a hot girlfriend I started having some serious stomach issue. Low fever and pain on the right side. Was working at a farm at the time as a helper doing everything and whatnot. Anyways. After two three days this massive pain occurred for about 25-min. No clue what happened my girlfriend called her dad who was a hotshot doctor. He wrote a referral and and me immediately transferred into a hospital. Turns out my appendix had gotten so inflamed it exploded causing all this inflamed shit to be everywhere. 1 1/2 week later I was home but on bed rest for 3-weeks straight. Was apparently close to death but at 19 I just laughed it off and so did my friends who 2-days after surgery brought Pizza to the hospital and my room which they knew I could not eat.
