Thread: What is colitis?

    What is colitis?

The father of a friend of mine has a disease called colitis, I don't know what that means. But what I do know is that he was always shitting blood along with his feces, and he's losing a lot of weight!

People have great results making milk kefir from kefir grains. The taste isn’t appealing but can hold nose to help!

Kefir has good bacteria to restore gut flora. I’ve never purchased kefir from store because it’s more powerful “brewed” at home since not processed for shelf life.

Let me know if you like info on kefir

Well, interesting this kefir, can you mention more about it? How do you do it, how can a person get these grains to make kefir?

This link is the most non user friendly website but most informative.

    http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/Makekefir.html

You can buy starter kefir grain kits on Amazon with search for milk kefir starter grains

I prefer to buy this type. They multiply fairly quickly! They will balance out your gut issues in a couple months. A good friend of mine healed herself of Crohn’s disease…after near death.

Keep us updated if you do. I think I’m going to go to a holistic store by me to get mine. Sounds like the ones online are shady.

I’ve used Mr and Mrs Kefir which no issues. Or you can ask around if anyone extra grains since multiply in about 2 weeks.

Grains seem to prefer an interior cupboard (warmer) vs exterior (cooler) location and don’t like to be stirred aggressively. Gentle!

    Hints and Tips!

Kefir is an acquired taste and some cut with orange juice or blend in shake. There really is nothing you can do to ruin the milk kefir after strained - other then not refrigerating it after straining or not consuming strained kefir within 24 - 72 hours.

If leaving for more than 3 days, Place grains with some milk (enough to cover) and place in refrigerator. Refrigeration causes grains to go dormant.

Once you have enough grains, I would take enough for good size starter and store in refrig to prevent repurchase of new starter kit, periodically freshen the milk.

NEVER dispose of excess grains in drain or in sink garbage disposal - they will find a way to grow and eventually cause a clog.
