Supplements for 13 year old athlete

My son is 13 and very competitive in sports. He is in the gym as well as on the field.
Is there any reasons he should not take natural test boosters such as Tongkat and tribulus at his age? Not talking about sarms or synthetic hormones. Just over the counter test boosters that supposedly boost natural testosterone.

Teenagers have no business using supplements IMO. All they need is good healthy food.

Well, as your kid is an athlete it would be good to opt for creatine, beta-alanine and drinks like gatorade! The tribulus doesn't speak for itself, it's just a deceptive herb. The first thing to do is to follow Iranon's advice to make him follow a good nutritional routine, according to his BMR and TDEE, and thus supplement with the supplements that I mentioned above or also whey protein, malt, dextrose.

I second Iranon, absolutely no supplements. Just food.

That kid's test levels are likely higher than hell at that age, and if they aren't: They will be soon enough.

    Patience, intensity, consistency.

I have several acquaintances that would very likely have been several inches taller if they wouldn't have fucked with their HPTA using gear before they're growth plates fused. (IE 25 years old.)

No damn idea what a test booster would do to a kid. Do they even work anyway?? I thought all that shit was junk.

Yeah, no such thing as a test booster. If a supplement boosted testosterone, the pituitary gland would sense this and shut down stimulation of the testes to bring the levels back down. So… nothing is accomplished. You can’t trick the HPTA into producing more test without causing a feedback loop that concurrently shuts test production down.

The only test boosters that work are actually steroids or “pro-hormones” that will screw up a healthy HPTA axis and possibly result in low-T for life.

I was clear in the post that I’m not talking about gear or sarms. Nothing that would shut down. Not sure why someone mentioned that. I’m talking about supplements that do the opposite and increase natural testosterone output. Tongkat Ali is one of the few things that has been shown to boost natural testosterone production by up to 10%. Now I know that’s not much. For us older guys that’s not enough to make any difference. If your test is at 300 ng/dl. Getting it up 10% to 330ng/dl isn’t gonna help you. I’m asking if anyone knows whether it would be harmful to take a supplement that helps encourage natural testosterone output at that age. This is the “questions about supplements” category not “questions about steroids”.

A 13 year old needs nothing other than a good diet and lots of rest. That's it.
Only think I'd remotely consider would be Vit D but only after you test and know his current level.

Aside from a documented deficiency as Kel mentioned, all a teenager needs is a quality diet composed of decent macros, lots of water (ditch the carbonated beverages), repetition of basic compound movements and accessory drills that support his sport. Those things and good sleep hygiene are the building blocks.

Be more concerned with him avoiding junk food.
Toxins like aluminum deodorants, plastics etc .
Getting in his macros as well as micros.
Omega 3s,minerals all that good stuff.
Wish I had a dad who cared like you do though.
    Good job op
