Personally I have found for me that no set rep range works for size. It takes a vast mixture of reps for me to grow. I am talking from singles to 20 reps. I am not really talking classical periodization but i feel you need to mix it up. Something that worked really well for me was this.
1 week at 20 rep sets, 1 week at 12 rep sets, 1 week at 10 rep sets,
1 week at 8 rep sets, 1 week at 6-7 reps, 2 weeks at 5 reps, 2 weeks at 3 reps, 1 week at 2 reps, then hit another week at 20's, a week at 1 set 12 and one of 10, the a week at 10 and 8, a week at 8 and 6, a week at 5 and 3, a week at 3 and a single, then take a weeks rest and find a new program. This was a normal 16 week cycle for me.
