Thread: Pulled neck muscle - help

Question Pulled neck muscle - help

I pulled a neck muscle while lifting yesterday. I have two questions:

    1) Any suggestions for dealing with the immediate neck pull?

    2) I get these neck pulls about once a month, ranging in severity from mild to a bitch. What can I do to help stave these things off? Supplements, stretches, and ideas??? These things are killing me... I am unable to achieve proper form, reps and weight as long as i have one of these things.

    Thanks in advance!

(By the way... look for my IGF-1 diary starting in the next couple days. I am running a IGF-1 LR3 *ONLY* cycle for 4 weeks. I will be keeping a detailed log.

My form tends to be quite good. I would say half of my neck pulls come when I am not lifting, and half either during or shortly after a workout session.

I warm up before I lift, I stretch, and do a little cardio to get the blood pumping (no more than 5 minutes).

You should probably stretch out really well right after your workout. That's the best time to stretch for anyone, but for you, with this problem, it is even more important.

Go to a chiropractor I used to have it every time I did ovehead or tri pushdowns. I also worked really hard on my traps. Now a year later it never happens

Bro, during what exercise do you usually hurt your neck?? If its something like a press, make sure your head is resting on the bench. Dont bring your head off of it.

My chiro is a bb as well and understands it has something to do with the muscle that stablize the shouldergirdle. When they get fatigued they allow it to go out of rotation. Form is also a major part I learned what not to do as well. Hope this helps some

Oh and NEVER put anything behind your head and lift.

Thanks for the responses... I think I am going to give a chiropractor a try.

God though, I wish there was something I could inject into the muscle to get rid of the pull.
