    ultimate fight: deaders vs benchers

you have a bench expert, and deadlift expert and both of them suck at their non expert lift. so who would win a fight?

i say the deadlifter, since the bench will try to use upper body while deadlifteer picks him up from his feet and drops him like a ton of bricks

deadlifts baby...anybody can bench press. Deadlifts take good more stability and I am kinda bias.

but then once they're on the ground, the bencher will just toss the deader right off of him.

In actuality, the squatter would win. A simple kick in the groin from someone who squats 700+ and it's all over.. you're down. then a stomp on the head, and lights out forever.

IMO a deadlifter would have the advantage due to the wider range of muscles used.

I think the tricep extensioner would win....Triceps make up much more of your arm. And for the deadlift,vs bench, deadlift would win IMO.

theres no way a deadlifter would win. if say
dl guy dl 650 and bench 250
    and
bench guy dl 400 and bench 500
and say they both weigh the same

id put my money on the bench guy because yeah the deadlift guy has a stronger base but i think its not so much about having a strong base but having a heavy one and i think, benching more will help with punching more ,than dling more will help with kicking and stomping

BENCH. One punch in the face from someone benching 400 lbs will hurt.
The only thing a deader can do is take him to the ground.
Since this has nothing to do with wrestling skills I think that is the limit of the deader.
The bencher will just push him off then slug him again.

    Easy...deadlifter!

Take a look at any pro boxer/MA guy. Do you see the friggin traps and lats? How about the thighs?
Now take a look at the chest. A big chest slows down the punch. A powerful punch comes from the trunk, not the tit. The thick traps and neck help stabilize the neck...resulting in a less violent head snap upon receiving a punch...less chance of concusion..."stronger jaw."

Deads give thickness to the back, traps, and trunk.

Bench gives thickness to the tri's and pecs...slow punch.

    Speed = power

Good point bermich, b4 that I would have said deader for sure. But anyway the REAL battle would be between a deader and squatter!

    Actually power=speed+strength.

A squat is the best test of strength, and since the DL and squat are very similar, I would take the DLer over the bencher.

    Swellin has a good point.
I am up in the air on this now.
I can bring up instances watching my brother get in fights and one hit would leave anyone out cold. He never did deads. Just solid benching. Everyone said his punches hurt even playin.

Traps and lats are all pulling motion except military. Benching all push. Push the guy away with force. If you wanna wrestler and pull him towards you then go with deads.
How are we gonna settle this?
Who here benches the most and favorably main exercise and who here mainly does dead lifts and lats?
We will put you two together in a fight.

I think that whether you are stronger in one lift versus another has nothing to do with who would win in a fight. Who would win? The more aggressive one would!

Well then i hafto say a weightlifter would own a powerlifter! They have faster hands then a boxer and let me tell you one punch from a guy that can jerk 200kg´s (440lbs) will put you out cold for atleast 15 minutes.

just a thought, but if the bencher throws a punch the connects...I would say the deader goes down, hoss kinda pointed it out. you incorporate your tris quite a bit in bench.

But, imo, I would say who ever connected first!

WOW. Another fight thread.. Where's my mate Chicomahoco (Or however you spell that phucking name).

Ok, ok are we assuming these two guys are experienced fighters already?. I doubt it, because most 99.9% of fighters I know will train in both Bench and Deads. I don't know one fighter who neglects either. Of course there's the other option as bdtr know...

A finger in the ass, in the eye and a kick in the nuts are pretty effective, lol....

OMG, this thread can't be for real? One rep max lifts got sweet FA to do with fighting. Who would be only a bencher or a deadlifter? Like many above have already said, most trainers do both. Weight training is simply a means of gaining stregth and power.

I feel obliged to mention the above technique series Bouncer pointed out only works on the second Tuesday of every other month......so use with caution.

My personal opinion would be the dead lifter... just an opinion of course... but when when I learned to hit properly, most of the energy came from the legs and trunk.

Of course there is more than one way to skin a cat...

I would happily get on the mat with any untrained fighter, I don't care if he can bench press a car. Or deadlift one.

<--- I've been waiting forever to use this one!

Bottom line it is a well rounded person who will win, but another good point is if u cant fight, u cant fight and no matter how strong u are ur not goin to win... But lets make this more interesting...
    Deadlifter
    Bencher
    OR
    Squater
    Which will win that battle?
And to make this more realistic u can combine the total amount of 10 pnts on all three...
    I go
    3 bench
    3 deahlifts
    4 squats...
Def the best combo if u ask me......

Deads by far. Deadlifts involve more neurons, which would incorperate more muscles and stimulation. Yeah, it's true the bench would be able to push the Deader off of him once they're on the floor, but if the Deader gets a hold of the somma bitch, it's over.
