    Going truck shopping

    Tomorrow I'm going with a buddy of mine to help him find a new truck. I drive a Dodge 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel. I love my "beast". Anybody else have a suggestion on which truck is best? Gas mileage is a concern, so diesel is probably the most feasable option. Anybody like the Ford Power Stroke? Well, I'd rather be Cummin' than Strokin'. A little bumper sticker humor. Anyway, your input is appreciated.

    How many miles per gallong can you expect with the 2500 HD? I average about 17 with my 2000 Dodge Cummins.

    Ford Super duty all the way, will out tow a dodge (although i like these trucks), and a Chevy HD... I bust my buddies balls all the time about this, because he is a quality engineer at a cheverlot truck plant in Louisana...

    Ford baby...Plus resale is awesome for these... You can't find a super duty 98-03 less then $24,000 even if they have over 100,000 miles bro

    Escalade is nicely overpriced...If you want to bling bling go for it... MJ ride is i'll spell it out... P I M P... Actually you could probally pick an escalade up for pretty cheap now... But for a truck for working, or for just a big truck i'd go with a superduty...

    I think escalades are extremely nice, but since i'm a Ford man i'd buy a Navigator and throw the 24's on it...

    Think about it this way, if you put 525ft/lbs of torque in say a 3000lbs mustang you would easily pull the front wheels of the ground all day long... they have those trucks geared specificly for pulling, and thats what they do the best... It's ridiculous... how much power they have... If you just like the body styling you can get away with a F250 which is just a smaller motor, but 4x4 is still available, so is the power... they also look very nice lifted with a set of 35" tires

    I love it.....But it was way over priced ....only reason I got it was for the Tax Benefit.....I Love taking it in for scheduled maintenance cuz they let me take a H2 home.....My next automobile will def be a mercedez

    I had a 1976 Ford F-250 4X4 Crew Cab restored and it is definitely cool. I used to be a Ford man also...until I got this Dodge. I still love Ford trucks, but **** this Dodge is a beast! I need to get some pics for you guys.

    I don't know much about them big trucks, I drive a Chevy S-10 4 banger. Works for me. I'm too cheap to pay for anything that gets less than 30 mpg . . .

    I did hear on the news the other day that some insurance rating company tested the new Ford truck, and they found that at a measly 5 mph, it sustained over $1500 in damage. Yah, I think that was both the front AND the back end. That was the worst for any truck they tested. So . . that'll be reflected in insurance ratings, so I s'pose you could keep that in mind while shopping . . .

    Chevy's coming out with a brand-new nice lookin truck pretty soon . . .

As far as Project development, engineers design the large majority of cars to crush and crumble to "absorb" crashes, while the driver is nested safely in the drivers seat... I worked with Material engineers on exterior plastics that are on prototype vechicles, and in the near future be in production... The saying goes, "They don't make em like they used to" 30 years ago you could a brand new sports car loaded up for $4,000 and change with a full tank of gas...     BTW... The SSR that truck is up for sale, its a nice chunk of change... but if you are over 6' tall i'd buy a something else... not much room in that sucker, it is a convertible though

    bro what sucks is we have a ford contour... and my leg sits in the middle of the seat rest...

    My friend says Hummers are even worse, no way I would be comfy in those..

    I hear that man... Thats where the trend is going as far as interiors... To the normal people it may seem like a cozy, secure, comfy ride, but to others its a pain in the neck... LOL...I'm working my way up there, maybe in about 20 years i'll be able to bring back the big comfy seats like in the old caddys and lincolns, and permantley banish all buket seats... or at least have adjustable side bolsters an option to accomidate all my friends with 33+ quads...

    Sorry for the hijack body, there is still alot of good info in the post...lol...Even look at the new F150's no dissappointments there either... The have some good rates now, and you can get a hell of a deal on an 03' cause the 04's are probally on their way from the plant as we speak...

    Yes limos are nice, but i like to drive... I can't stand when bozo's drive those things...haha

    I agree with Purepower, have a look at the Chevy 2500 but with the Duramax. This truck hauls a$$ and is really quiet for a diesel. My bud has one and he hauls about 1300kms towing a double enclosed trailer loaded with 2 atv's and all our hunting gear for about $100/ Canadian in fuel.

    On a side note, I heard from a good bro that Dodge is totally re-designing the trucks next year. He has apparently test drove it as he works in the R&D dept. From what I can gather its supposed to be an amazing truck with a quality ride. Good thing, dodge truck rode like tanks.

    Bro ford powerstroke all the way! You can change the exhaust housing on the turbo , put monster exhaust pipe on it and a programmer and push over 500 HP and 700+ ft pnds and all will cost you under $2000 ! Oh man i got a partial hard on thinking bout it.
