    Multivitamin Choice OK?

    Hi All,

I have run out of my old multivit (which I got overseas and cannot get here) and am looking for a relacement. Unfortunately it's not like the USA and other places where you can get very strong multivits, very cheaply at most stores. Here, a shop like GNC is actually not that expensive and the other manufacturers (local) are rather dodgy and not 100% trustworthy. I was thinking about doing the following and just wanted some input:

I take 2 tabs a day, the first is the GNC MultiGel (serving size is two caps, I will only take one in the morning). The second is Berocca, which I will take either in the afternoon or with dinner. This is more of a full B-Complex but with added things. I just wanted to check if the amounts of the daily vitamins and minerals I will get in one MultiGel will be enough (since I know the B-Vitamins will be covered with the Berocca). Please keep in mind I train 4x a week, quite hard and intense, but I am nowhere near a full bodybuilder and I weigh only 145lbs.

    Thanks!

PS. Here is what I would get from two MultiGel caps, I will only be taking one so its half of the following:

    Vitamin A (50% as beta-Carotene and 50% as Fish Liver Oil) 10000 IU 200%
Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 300 mg 500%
Vitamin D (as Fish Liver Oil) 400 IU 100%
    Vitamin E (as d-alpha Tocopherol) 300 IU 1000%
Thiamin (Vitamin B-1)(as Thiamin Hydrochloride) 50 mg 3333%
    Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2) 50 mg 2941%
Niacin (as Niacinamide) 50 mg 250%
Vitamin B-6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 50 mg 2500%
    Folic Acid 400 mcg 100%
    Vitamin B-12 (as Cyanocobalamin) 50 mcg 833%
    Biotin 50 mcg 17%
Pantothenic Acid (as Calcium d-Pantothenate) 50 mg 500%
Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate and Dicalcium Phosphate) 200 mg 20%
Phosphorus (as Dicalcium Phosphate) 50 mg 5%
Iodine (as Potassium Iodide) 150 mcg 100%
Magnesium (as Magnesium Oxide) 50 mg 12%
Zinc (as Zinc Sulfate) 15 mg 100%
Selenium (as Selenium Amino Acid Chelate) 50 mcg 71%
Copper (as Copper Gluconate) 2 mg 100%
Manganese (as Manganese Sulfate) 10 mg 500%
Potassium (as Potassium Sulfate) 30 mg 1%

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what I get per Berocca (B-Complex)

    Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 15 mg
    Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 15 mg
    Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) 10 mg
    Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 10 µg
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 300 mg
    Biotin 150 µg
    Nicotinamide 25 mg
    Pantothenic acid 23 mg
    Calcium 100 mg
    Magnesium 100 mg
    Folic Acid 400 µg
    Zinc 10 mg

Sounds like more than enogh to me. You may want to add ALA since I didn't see it listed.

I was in a GNC in Thailand a few months ageo. In Thailand, they don't even carry the GNC brand vitamins. I think they were selling Centrum - pretty crappy choice for people who work out hard IMHO.

Just get some green tea. Best anti-oxidant out there at neutralizing free radicals. The darker the tea, the more anti-oxidant power.
