Who is the worst president in History???

The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper as a letter to the

Editor.



Liberal Democrats claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war.

They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed

Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point:

We didn't start the war on terror.

Try to remember, terrorists started it on 9/11. (Probably long before 9/11)



Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.



FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never

Attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of, 18,333 per year.



John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never

Attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,

58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.



Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia

Never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter

Three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple

Occasions.



In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has

Liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put

Nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,

And captured a terrorist who Slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers, an average Of 300 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another

Terrorist attack at home.

I usually don't post in these political threads, but before we start saying Bush "liberated" any countries lets give it a bit more time. The US has apparently "liberated" countries before and that has backfired on them in no small way.

Thats just my opinion. I don't want to start any arguments on this thread....just tossin in my 2 cents..

please tell me this is a joke. they cannot be serious. I remember awhile back all my right-winged buddies were so quick to relate sadam to hitler. and used that as some justification. now this comes out and fdr is a bad president for leading us into wwII? first off, Japan did attack us, so we declared war on japan. as germany was japans ally, they declared war on us. so in return we declared war on germany. All this "Preemptive thread" bull**** that bush has been preaching... you support his war but when a REAL thread (declaring war is a real threat) is annoucned you bash fdr for leading us to victory and saving the world from being overrun? not to mention ending the great depression???

this is right-winged propaganda, nothing more. i could skew facts from any president we have ever had and make it look slanderous.

besides Nixon was the worst he was certifiably crazy.

Calvin Cooledge (1920-1928) set policies in place that precipitated the Great Depression. It took his sucessor, Hoover (1928-1932), a while to figure out solutions to the economic problems, but since the Wall Street Crash of 1929 happened on his watch, voters blamed him. When Franklin Roosevelt took office, he used many of Hoover's ideas to fix things, and they worked pretty well.
Hoover's reputation in the 1930's was pretty bad. Undeserved, though.

Herbert Hoover admired by Bush I and Bush II was the worst of the president 20th century. FDR saved us from his ineptness and apathy toward the average American.

Im not much into the presidents but I know there have to be presidents that just amounted to NOTHING. Clinton got things done, reagon, bush, nixxon , carter, kennedy lincoln ford, etc. But ask your history teachers about the presidents that most people like me dont know about. The ones who reallly ****ed up the economy.

I like how SPY started a thread supporting Bush and then the demos come in and say this thread is proposterous and we are spewing crap. Then when demos start a thread bashing bush or supporting clinton, repubs go in and say the same thing.

Bros, I don't think this thread is very fair...

As much as I hate politicians in general, I have to admit that every president, prime minister, premier or whatever has a different challenge to meet, a different political climate, economical and geopolitical climate... and of course a different team of people supporting them.

Taking that into consideration, I think judging *any* world leaders performance by comparing him to others is like comparing apples and oranges...

Just my 2 cents worth of course.

Worst...Grant, Lincoln and Kennedy were without a doubt the worst for the US. Alcoholic sloth of a General responsible for the Spoils Systems, another initiated Civil War, ol JFK was the son of bootleggers that in all actuality allowed the US involvment in Vietnam...restrained the hands of US servicemen from annhilating of Commie rice eaters...supported Commies, but acted like he was keeping the world safe from them...(he did hump M. Definately JIMMY CARTER has been the worst

This "Human Rights Champion" was practically in bed with the powers in Moscow. He attacked Democratic countries for human rights violations and CHOSE TO IGNORE the massacres of thousands in China, Russia, and Cuba.
He used the PRETEXT of human rights to advance his Socialist ideals. (Stalinist ideals)
great example:

He let Nicaragua fall to Communism, by ousting (sent letters "urging him to abandon office") democratically elected president and letting the Sandinistas imprison thousands of political prisoners and perform countless Human Rights violations. He never cut aid to the Sandinist government.

It is because of Ronald Reagan and Oliver North that Nicaragua is a free country today. Through their CIA support of the "Contras" (democratic freedom fighters consisting of indigenous northern Indians, Mestizos and former Guardia members) and 10 years of civil war, The Sandinistas relented and agreed to Democratic Elections in 1990 where the poulation overwhelmingly elected Violeta Chamorro, a politically conservative woman who led the country away from crime, human right abuses, poverty and communism.

As far as the worst president...i'll go fdr. Not for the wwII, he inherited a mess of a country. He is noted by some as the best president of all time and also the worst. He did what he had to at the time but our country paid the price later. Those social programs, although needed at the time, set the ball rolling that has eventually led us to our problems in the future...social security. Had that not been put in place, we wouldn't be faced with the issue here that will have me paying out the ass in about 9 years when it fails. Of cource, it is always debateable depending on one's views, but I say fdr for social security...the real problem of the future of our country

3) Those social programs were pretty small at the time. I don't know if they hoped they would grow into the huge things they are now, but it was later Congresses that voted to increase their scope.

I kinda think that with the low savings rate most people have nowadays, that when they reach retirement age, there really isn't going to be enough $$$ in either Social Security or in their personal accounts to keep them out of abject poverty. If enough folks end up in that unhappy position, you can bet they'll vote for politicians who will create some solutions that conservatives would consider rather unsatisfactory. I think you can expect to see the initial rumblings of this in about 20 years. In 50 years, this country will be radically different.

But that's neither here nor there . . .
