    Lord of The Rings..

I believe LOTR is deserving of the 11 awards they recieved. Incredible film making that has set the bar to a new level; so high that i dont believe it will be reached againn for a long time.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Tolkein fan but that movie was a top ten movie in my books.

What does a pigeon and a headless character have to do with the movie?

I think Jackson deserved the director oscar, considering he did not get one for the other two. But Mystic River was a much more powerfull movie, and I feel it was the best picture.

I am sorry - I panned mystic river for no other reason than it has sean penn in it - but since it has clint directing I might watch the video

I do not agree with any political views of Sean Penn, or Tim "Chill Wind" Robbins who is also in the movie, but their performances in this film are incredible. I can set aside political differences to enjoy performance and film. Especially one of the most emotionally moving films I've ever seen

On a serious note. I have over 25k in home entertainment. I never go to the movies. I will rent both movies when they come out.

Lost in translation was terrible. I'm sorry, there was no point at all to that movie, or none that had anything worth while watching it for

Don't get me wrong, I am a nerd and a huge Star Trek fan (see avatar), but when I was at the movies one night I saw the line for LOTR and it scared the sh!t out of me. It brought a whole new meaning to the word dork. I could never go see those movies and be associated with those people. I'll probably rent them someday though. I've not read the books either, so I want to do that first as well.

i read the books a looong time ago ( about a year b4 the first movie came out). They are very long winded, Tolkien is very descriptive...some times it gets boring when he is describbing some of the settings, but is well worth it on most other parts....as always, the book were great, and better then the movie. Although, i have never seen a movie addaptation as good as this one..again, they did a great job.

I am a BIG John Grisham fan, and when it comes to making movies from his books, people always f*ck them up..its to bad, cause they are amazing stories.

Did you not even read the first sentence of my post. Ever hear of the word context or have you been to busy playing with your hobbit dolls.

Oh I read your first sentence, but still felt the need to say what I said. The day when I can book a hotel room and not be told, "sorry sir, we're booked, the er, Klingons are staying here" is the day when you can call Tolkien fans dorks. (true story btw)
