I remember a few UFC's ago Wanderlei stepped in the ring with Chuck and they both said they wpuld be down for a unification fight for light heavies between Pride and UFC. Would be a nice fight.

i dunno he would pretty much only be be stripped of the soccer kick and a few other things he usually throws after his opponent is ****ed anyways. i think he'd atually benefit more from being able to throw elbows on the ground. at any rate, chuck should have to come to pride because the ufc is like arena football and pride is the nfl.

It won't happen...Chuck had his chance at Wanderlei and got owned by Rampage. The UFC is where Chuck can reign supreme for now...Pride would not be such a good move for him.

Another thing that you gott to understand is, that if Pride were to send one of their guys over the UFC has to pay their purse as Pride paid for Chucks and Vitors when they fought there representing the UFC.

Some speculate this is a reason why this has'nt happened as Wand is reported to make $400k+ a fight...thats twice as much as the highest paid fighter in the UFC (minus sponorships of course).

just for exactly that, to show who's major and who's minor. ufc has better promotion and coverage but pride has better fighters

First of all, lets stop saying this nfl, major minor bull shit... If Silva is the baddass that he seems to be, he wont giva fck where or who he fights... all he should care about is who and what he can conquer next. If he has to go to the UFC next b/c he already owns Pride... so be it!!

Wand has shown time and time again that he gives two shits who they put on the ring with him, he will fight regardless. Just who in the flying **** would agree to fight Hunt who is a K-1 Grand Champion and has 64lbs on you while you are undefeated at the time and were training to fight a guy you crushed 3x before (Saku)? Sometime i think the man is insane. Not to mention him agreeing to fight CroCop under those hybrid Pride/K-1 rules.

Its more a matter of politics and logistics really, many things would have to come together for Wand to fight Chuck. The fighters are actually caught in the middle of it all. UFC has turned down Pride's offer to send Ninja and Kharitonov...who knows why? Money, maybe? Politics, definately.

i heard there'z a Crocop Vs Liddell matchup in the works - now that'd be awesome

But honestly, moving from PRIDE to UFC is the equivalent to moving from the NFL to CFL. It definetly wouldn't be worth your contract just to fight some dude if your with PRIDE.

MMA fighters are pro-athletes, they're are plenty other people Silva can fight other than a tier 2 league's (UFC) fighter.

BTW, Wanderlei won that fight w/ Hunt in my opinion. As far as the fight itself...I know Wanderlei won the first and then the last 2 rounds were back and fourth (I do not remember exactly). But, Bas and Randy both thought Wanderlei won the fight....not to mention the fact that Hunt got a yellow card and outweighed Silva by 70 pounds.....both of these facts work against Hunt in the scoring.

That would be a good one to see. Alot of people I have talked to about this say "it would not be fair, Chuck is a 205 and Cro Cop is HW." Well, Chuck is like 225 when he is not fighting and probably like 218 lbs or so in the ring. So it is a very even match up in terms of height and weight.

Yeah but most light heavyweight fighters come into the fight weighing 215-220 but that doesnt mean they're used to fighting heavies who fight at that natural weight or even higher weights and are a lot stronger than they are.....and no way the UFC will ever pay Cro-cops salary....he's the highest paid foreign pride fighter there is right now. I think he makes around 800,000$ a fight.

he doesnt own pride, he still has to fight shogun....liddell needs to go to pride because UFC wont pay Wandys salary...I dont see why liddell would fly all the way to Japan, train real hard, just to catch an ass beating by Silvia?? He should stay in the UFC and mop up all the fighters. Would Arod Jump down to win the triple A MVP? dont think so (threw that in for you heavy hitter)

I hate to disagree but 40-60,000 fans everyshow to a max of 12000 at 1 show? I think Pride promotion is much better than UFC, Pride events are carried live on Japanese cable so millions view it everytime....The problem I think is Pride does not need the U.S as a market so they do everything here half assed...they have so much money from the markets they control they are moving very slowly.

I dont see any advantages of fighting in the UFC at all.

in the UFC once you lose, the crowd considers you a loser, and the fighter who beat you is better in every aspect... because he beat you :\

in PRIDE, they love you eithier way, all they ask is that you fight with all your heart, they respect the fighting athletes spirit - not like this UFC gangster bullshit

hahahhaa to be honest, you guys all have great points... it just that it shouldnt matter where you are... some of the best UFC fighters are easily on the levels of Pride fighters. nuff said!!

I think Chuck Lidell can hold his own in Pride and to be honest I disagree saying the UFC is minor leagues. UFC has some GREAT fighters but a few weak divisions. The UFC's welterweight division is stacked with great fighters and great Pride fighters like Sakurai fought in the UFC against Matt Hughes and got their asses handed to them. There is no 170 pound division in Pride like in the UFC and I think that the UFC's 185 division champ rich franklin could beat dan henderson, Prides 185 champ. UFC just doesnt have the money to compete against Japan. The florida Marlins with their 80 million$ a year salary beat the 200$ million dollar yankees in the world series because they had the better team. Just because the UFC doesnt have the money to spend on Prides level doesnt mean their fighters suck.

Agreed that Lidell would do well in pride and be competetive with all the top fighters...I am a big fan of Rich Franklin but I think Henderson would eat him alive....IMO I consider it minor leauges only because I can count on 1 hand the fighters in UFC that could compete in PRIDE and just for shits and giggles I will post them(random order)

Thats not only a list of "competitors" , thats a list of people who have a very very legitimate chance of becoming champions in their weight classes. Thats not some list of average guys who may put on a good show but guys who could honestly......well become champions in their weight classes lol
