MMA weight training (vid)
Here is a video of Randy Couture doing some circuit training that he does as part of his routine to get in shape for a fight, totally different from a body builder.

I highly recommend you purchase the "A day in the Zen" from www.sherdog.com as it shows Mario Sperry's training for his fight against Ninja at Pride 20
I started using alot of it in my Vale Tudo classes and we crawled off the mats, some very useful drills etc..
I'll see what i else i can dig up.

Sounds like a solid routine for MMA training...25lbs one ach side is alot when you train differently. Alot of people seem to laugh when they see the low weight stuff, you have to train specifically for MMA as the demand on your overall body is much higher than any weight lifting routine.
After all a MMA fighter has to be ready for standup to groung back to standing etc...all the pulling and tugging can take a toll. I really like Sperry's routine alot and it helped us tremendously.
The killer was the wrestling stuff, shadow boxing and then someone yelling "Sprawl"...this was my favorite but a killer.Last edited by Panzerfaust; 02-10-2006 at 10:51 AM.

like i said above i train with max/sub max poundages mon, wed, fri so the circuit for me resembles strength for a fight although the circuit employs lifting exercises,it is the fast movements of the circuit that gets the heart rate up.running for 5 miles does build endurance but is'nt practical for the constant change in pace during a fight imo.i'll checkout that mario sperry routine like you say.sounds interesting.i hit tai pads/focus mits and my trainer yells "sprawl" sporadically as well.and in between that work the clinch and some ground and pound on a flat heavy bag.that shit sucks for a circuit.
