just had my first MMA match tonight (pic inside)

So i had my first full contact MMA fight tonight, our rules were -

    No eye gauging/low blows/fish hooks
No elbowing or kneeing to the head

so it went pretty well, i was fighting a jujitsu blue-belt (i am a white belt, as i've just started training with a gi, no matter, my opponent is x20 times better than me at jujitsu)

It opens up with me throwing the intial strike in the first 10 seconds, a low leg kick to his inner thigh - from there it is just a standup fight, he hit me in the head approx 25-40 times, luckily they were all glancing blows and the ones which did hit me directly didnt have enough power behind to be succesful (though i'll admit i had .2 second lightswitch happen a few times). I landed the majority of strikes, note that he ONLY striked to the head, and ignored my body entirely, I did alot of clinching/kneeing, i put him in a standing unsuccessful gullotine as he tried to do a take down, he won the majority of exchanges (in my mind). I nailed him with a spinning backfist, which i was pretty happy about, and then i attempted it again and COMPLETLY missed lol... ahh well... In the end it was a draw because neither of us had been knocked out or submitted, the crowd was happy - we got 'fight of the night'... another big benefit is that i was bleeding from my nose/mouth for quite awhile, so it looked pretty barbaric (approx 150 attended)

it was pretty much just 2 guys semi-intelligently brawling

More pics to come, 3 cameras were taping, i'll have th VHS by tuesday, and then have to get it somehow put on CD/DVD or whatever, so i can upload it and you guys can D/L it

But anyways, as you guys must know, it was definetly a great experience to finally fight a full contact pankration match

    more videos/pictures to follow

    Congrats!

It takes some brass ones to get in the ring like that. Good job on keeping the more experienced grappler at bay.

That's awsome. I assume you plan to do more. The jits will come with time. Way to keep it standing against a blue belt.

Thanks for all your support guys,

sorry about not getting back soon enough to this thread, i went on a 2 day alchoholic-adventure :\

    - The MMA gloves i had on were not open palm, but of course they are allowed

    - One of the senior fighters dropped out of the fightcard at last minute, so i had 6 hours notice to fight, I hadn't trained for it at all - so it was a bit suprising

    - Yes, he did try and take me down several times, but i put sufficient resistance to stop it - note he was a blue belt & i am a white belt in jujitsu, so had i been taken down, it would be severley dire for me

I have the tape at home here now, and i should be getting it video captured & uploaded to my buddies website (he'll be permanently hosting) within the next 10 or so hours

There were 2 different tapes, hopefully i should be getting the other one soon as well

Try out for King of the cage, that would be a good start for an MMA career.

You can apply on the website kingofthecage.com

kotc is amature man. You could probably get by with a high blue or low purple. Brown / black isn't too necessary for amature.

KOTC isnt amateur at all. Don Frye is going to fight in the next event actually. A lot of huge stars got their start there including Quinton jackon, Ricco Rodriguez, Dean Lister Diego Sanchez etc.

I don't think California has amateur fights. I think under the state laws all fighters have to be pro. That could be changing soon though. I heard Cali just sanctioned MMA, when formerly the events were held on reservations.
