Paid tonight to wrap hands
In my state, the most an amateur MMA fighter can get "paid" to fight is $100 for travel expense (since it's technically not payment for fighting). Tonight the promoter gave me $50 to wrap fighters' hands since the boxing and wrestling commission had representatives present at the event. There was also a state senator there. They're all trying to decide if MMA should be sanctioned under the boxing commission or independently.
Anyway, I got to watch most of the show for free and even made $50. That's pretty cool for doing something I really enjoy anyway.
I also noticed that there's some really funky and sloppy hand wrapping in MMA from some of the other coaches/cornermen. A couple of them were using just strips of tape wrapping over the knuckles. I used the amateur boxing style of wrapping using gauze with strips of tape across the back of the hand in an "X", around the wrist, between the fingers, and just above the knuckles, using a whole roll of gauze per hand. Seemed to work pretty well even inside the MMA gloves.
