along the lines of MMA pay
How much do you suppose a champion like matt hughes makes? Id assume about 500K in pay and xyience commercials a year? But after paying his corner, trainers, everything else associated with being a fighter (health ins aint cheap for him i bet!) he probably isnt left with a ton of money. Now im sure he can make it up with appearances, signings, promo stuff etc. And if he loses his belt he doesnt have that garaunteed cash anymore(see tito ortiz) But now what about mid card guys that get like 3-4 fight contracts. How do they survive in this industry making like 10-20k a fight? Even if you fight 4-5 times a year its not a ton of money after all the expenses and such. Are these guys like working a cash register by day and doing this at night?

Alot of MMA fighters do infact work a day job while training, i think it is pathetic that they have to but when you agree to fight for UFC with their shitty pay, they really hould'nt be complaining.
You pay someone like a bum, they will fight like a bum IMO.

That pretty much sums it up right there.

I definately agree that the fighters should be making more money to fight. I do think however that most of the fighters are not in it for the money. When you dedicate your life to training and fighting, it's an honor to fight in the UFC.
Most of the money comes from endorsements.
BTW, Tito made $200,000.00 in his last fight against Forrest. And thats just from the UFC. He probably got that matched by endorsements.
FYI,
UFC 59 Pay Outs from the UFC:
Tito Ortiz - $200,000
Andrei Arlovski - $90,000
Tim Sylvia - $45,000
Evan Tanner - $20,000
Forrest Griffin - $16,000
Nick Diaz - $10,000
Sean Sherk - $8,000
Karo Parisyan - $8,000
David Terrell - $6,000
Justin Levens - $5,000
Marcio Cruz - $5,000
Jeff Monson - $5,000
Nick Thompson - $5,000
Jason Lambert - $4,000
Thiago Alves - $4,000
Scott Smith - $3,000
Derrick Noble - $3,000
Terry Martin - $2,000

I'm not the biggest Silvia fan, but i agree. He definately deserves more. He gave life to the lagging HW division in the UFC and the guy has a great record with some big wins

Here is what i found on Pride payouts:
In his interview posted on MMAWeekly, Chuck said that Pride fighters don't earn more than UFC fighters...
Who else do you see yourself fighting after Babalu? Anyone out there you want?
I have wanted Wanderlei forever, and he’s a free agent now
Do you think he will sign with the UFC or do you think the money Pride offer will keep him?
They don’t earn more than us now, I know guys out there and from what they tell me I know their [sic] not earning more – I think the UFC could afford him but I don’t know.
Also, Pride doesn't pay fighters % of the PPV revenue. UFC does, and thats in addition to the numbers listed above. The numbers above only reflect contract dues and not PPV pay and endorsements
