Kendall Grove vs. Ed Herman ... WOW !
just finished watching the middleweight final between Grove/Herman ....... that was a great fvckin fight ..... both of those guys showed a tremendous amount of heart ........ both left it out on the mat ........ lots of submission attempts .... lots of escapes
overall great fight .... kendall got the unanimous decision ..... but i wouldve loved to see another round
and in the end .... dana white offered ed herman a contract as well

...Helluva fight....and DW offering Ed Herman a contract is good business sense on his part...Now he has 2 good MW fighters....

What i dont understand is why herman was given a contract even tho he lost. The loser goes home in my book and Ed Herman isnt that skilled of a fighter.

i wonder how things would have panned out differently if ed was tito's fighter.

Ed beat Kendalls ass all night. The only reason Kendall won was because he caught Ed in a rear naked choke the last minute of the third round. Thats what won it. Ed definately deserves a contract considering that fight could have gone either way. If Ed taps or gets knocked out he wouldn't get a contract but the way it was the judges picked a winner by flipping a coin IMO.

Just my opinion like I stated.

Amazing fight. These guys are warriors. I can't believe how much stamina these guys had after kicking each others ass the entire time. That fight could've gone either way.

I agree with ya USfighterFC. He made himself out to be so good and he's not. He should be going home without the contract.

Def not. Dana White just can't pull a $100,000 contract out of his ass like that. They've done this in all the TUF's. They always award more contracts then they say.

They do it everytime. They also still have a lot of the guys who lost in the beginning of the show come back and fight for the UFC which i think is billsh!t. I think if ya had you chance and you lost it well to bad.....better luck next time. Thats just my opinion.

I thought it was a great fight as well. Both fighters have good potential, which is why Dana signed them both. And for the record, the only other time Dana gave out 2 contracts on the finale was to Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar. Think that worked out OK for him.

great fight, i guess that choke at the end was enough to award it to kendall, but i still wish like hell that it had gone to another round.

Definately a great fight. Ed did better than i thought he would IMO b/c i wasn't expecting much from him. He definately likes to lay and pray but 1st round was his. He definately needs to improve his cardio if he is going to start fighting in the UFC.
I thought that Kendall had it won with that 2nd triangle in the 2nd round.. I give ed credit for escaping. Ed will get slaughtered by the top of the MW division but he'll get to fight some cans first to build a reputation

I thought Herman won the fight...I had him winning round 1 and 3 but Kendall winning the 2nd. Sometimes I dont understand what some judges are looking for, because be UFC judging outlines it seemed like Herman won to me.
Either way, I thought it was a good show...real good fights.

well ed herman was a free agent after he lost that match. so in essence dana probably saved himself a bunch of cash in the long run. suppose he doesnt get signed by the ufc, someone else signs him and when that contracts up his value is even higher. but dana knowing he has a talent here entices him and he gets a 6 figure deal which is nothing all that special. and he is the ufc's poster boy for a year doing promo stuff and xyience commercials for free. smart business move.

I dont think he will do one single xyience commercial and with his shitty attitude he will hardly be a poster boy. He's fighting at 185 and he will never beat rich franklin even on his best day. Ed Herman would probably have been picked up by WFA or IFL for much cheaper since he didnt get his 6 figure contract and beggers really can't be choosers at that point. Wht he would have done there remains to be seen.

I agree with usfighter, there are two types of cocky attitudes, entertaining ones such as Tito Ortiz, Rampage Jackson, and maybe Phil Baroni somtimes. Ed Herman has the annoying cocky attitude, which roughens the reputation of the UFC to new viewers. Looking at Kendall Groves interviews it shows that he is a stand up guy who has a grade A attitude and could represent for the UFC just like Randy C, Rich F, and GSP. Props on beating the trailer park trash Kendell Grove!

I wasn't a fan of Ed Herman's attitude on the show at all...I thought he was cocky and would probably get his ass kicked at some point by being too overconfident. I must give him some credit though...he didn't make any excuses or negative statements when Rogan interviewed him after the fight, just gave credit to Kendall. That was the first time I saw him show any class, and hopefully he's learned his lesson about running his mouth so much.

I don't think he tapped...I dunno if you have any experience in sport jiu jitsu or MMA...but trust me... you don't tap subtle. You tap fast when you feel that point come or you pass out. No in between. I thought it was a great fight. Both fighters impressed me. Ed definately showed he had tons of heart that made up for his complete lack of conditioning. If he had better conditioning...he wouldn't of layed there 3rd round.

Watch the fight again, Joe Rogan even said he thought Kendall tapped.

"He's rocked!!! That man's got dynamite in his hands"
Sometimes even Bas would annoy me with his " I'm telling you" "Just you watch"
So Bas what is sakuraba saying can you translate
Bas: "Sure, sakuraba said that he respects all fighters and el guapo is the most handsome looking man on the planet"
