    learning MMA at 42

    i used to kickbox quite a bit in my twenties, id like to get back into some kind off combat training i fancy giving mma a try ive no intention of competing, there is a decent club nearby, can anyone forsee any problems a guy my age might have doing this kind of contact training

    I don't think there's a problem at all, depending on your personal health of course. I train with men in their 40's doing BJJ and they are all tough as hell. You know your body so listen to it when it needs rest and recovery. Other than that, get out there and train! and have fun with it

    Like superpump said, it all depends on your personal health. It may take a little more time to recover from the stress on your body but overall if your in good physical condition you should be good to go.

    One of our best heavy weights is in his 40's. All depends on your body. I'd suggest you pay attention to your body and rest when you feel injuries come.

    Alot of CREDIT to you m8 your age aint a problem theres guys at my gym where i box in there 50's and very fit...good luck

    I agree with this. I just started taking brazilian jiu jitsu and im not in the best shape of my life. Im always dead ass tired after class. Since i started it though i've increase my cardio quite a bit.

    actually when i did weight 360 i couldn't use my weight worth sh*t. After i lost the first 100, people said i felt way heavier.

    260lbs? I still feel for them.

    Believe me, i know, i used to be around 230lbs and people hated be on bottom with me.

    Thats great news good luck to you beuleux i also plan to get back into some type of martial arts i just turned 34, my health is alright but i am still recub from back pain.
