    Fight Science

Just saw the show on National Geographic channel. They compared martial arts using scietific methods. Results:

Best punch: Boxer over kung fu karate and tae kwon do. Using a device that measures force a boxer generates over a thousand foot pounds per square inch force.

Best kick: Muy tai knee over karate side kick TKD spin kick and the kung fu double leg kick. Muy thai knee equal to a 35 mph car collision.

Best weapon: Katana over just about everything else.

They did tests on board breakers And concluded that its not a circus act. The ninja had exceptional balance over all other fighters, as they specificaly trained their foot/ ankle placement as an art form.

Just fyi, but for guys who train. imagine training boith for pure boxing skill and muy thai leg skills dangerous! Oh yeah, on the show Renzo Gracie BJ. nuff said cant compare anything to that.

It was a cool show...but honestly you can't really show which art has the best anything because it varies by the artist they used. Like the woo shoo guy was very small so of course his punches / kicks were less powerful. The Tai kwan do guy was very large which isn't that common and they really don't drill punches that often. What i'm saying is...think it showed more of which was the best out of those specific fighters.

P.S. muy thai and boxing kinda go against each other in terms of stance and foot work.

He was kinda small, I'm not a fan of wu shu, they shoulda had shaolin boxing or more jeet kundo guys. I understand that its hard to compare arts as it boils down to the individual practicing them. i was just looking from a "real world" practicality type thing.

That's hard to beleive. Maybe I don't understand the comparison, but I have been too car accidents where people get hit by a car going less than 35mph, and the damage to the person is worse than ANYTHING I've seen in MMA.

A winscreen is a little more powerful then a knee i should have thought...also depends on the position of the body...if your sat down in a car and hit a wall or another car the position of your body is in a disabled position if you like where only your top half of the body will take impact at first.

Where as being kneed in the head or face the law of gravity would come into it...where your body would be able to flex into a more secure position...on your back for instance or on your side.
