    Franklin and Sanchez - overrated?

    I vote:

    Franklin yes
    Sanchez no

Oh and Sylvia - way overrated. Bring back Couture from retirement to beat this guy silly.

Rich Franklin is a very good fighter, he lost to very tought opponants i mean Anderson Silva and Mochida are very tought cookies.

Diego Sanchez is very impressive and he is not over rated, he beat Karo real bad and knocked out Joe Riggs.

I wonder how Dana White thinks laying off David the Crow Loiseau after he lost twice and keeping Joe Riggs in the UFC he keeps on losing and losing and losing.

That's just silly - I've been following mma (only UFC) since 1994.

So, because you have an opinion on the subject, you get pissy. Again, silly. Flame on you.

    Let's go through the stats:

He beat Evan Tanner twice (by stoppage), which is respectable. Mainly just because I dig Evan Tanner. He wins some, he loses some, be he keeps on keeping on. So - good on Franklin.

He beat Edwin Dewees. So what.

He beat Jorge Rivera, but so did Chris Leben (good kid, but hardly title stature - yet). Again, so what.

He beat Ken Shamrock. SO WHAT???

Nate Quarry. So what? He would have been great if he entered the octagon at 24 instead of 34. As it is, he didn't even deserve the fight.

David Loiseau. So what? Name one person that guy has beat who matters.

Then comes Silva out of nowhere, with one UFC fight to his credit (against Leben), and takes Franklin out in the first round.

So, the only respectable (true very respectable) fighter Franklin has beaten is Tanner.

    Why is he not overrated?

Jeremy Horn and Dean Lister would eat him for breakfast.

I disagree with you about Franklin. And after seeing Dean Lister's last fight @185, I don't think he'd make it one round with Franklin.

Sanchez is not overrated per se, but he's also not top 3 in that weight class. He easily could have dropped that fight to Karo, and I think he'd get beat against Hughes, GSP or BJ Penn.

    Good point about Lister.

Sanchez is not belt material - yet - but I do believe he is underrated.

Bro thats the part where you are wrong, Silva comes from Pride where he knocked out the best, but if you been following UFC only then you been missing some very good MMA. Silva been around has well, Cage Rage, ROTR and more.

UFC is a quick sugar rush fix when it comes to MMA, it got some no where names in there PPV and more.

David Loiseau still stood 5 rounds with Franklin, and it took him 3 rounds to beat Jorge Rivera.

Dean Lister was good in King of the cage but has soon has he faced real competition he just dropped down, he was given a chance in Pride and blew it.

Faced Carlos Arona in a very boring fight.

Fair enough (with regard to Silva). I'll admit ignorance outside of the UFC. I've tried to watch PRIDE few times, but the fights have been quite boring, and usually dominated by a smallish Japanese dude (if I recall, I think he got beat in the UFC).

i dunno if i'd say franklin's overrated, but the jury's definitely still out. there's no doubt at all that he's head and shoulders above everyone besides anderson, but anderson is way, way, better than him. too bad lindland isn't in the mix because i blieve he'd beat either franklin or andersilva. pride's got a good thing going at 183, and i def. wouldn't mind seeing a couple guys come over to the ufc, esp. kang and hendo for the north american audience.

Right now the only good thing in UFC is the welterweight 170 pounds division.

    Still 2007 looks promising.

Its a good thing that Dana is buying out some of the other MMA in danger like WFA.

GSP is great, but I'm afraid we'll be in for some quick fights with him.

Franklin is not so much overrated just has not had a chance to face all the top talent. I think anderson will beat him again but it wont go the way it did last time. Its not so much who he has beat but how he has beat them, Evan tanner is no joke and I still believe he can beat franklin. Losieau(sp) overrated but tough, dewees who cares, Riveria would be leben 9 times out outta 10, Shamrock ehhh who cares. He is not overrated just has not had a chance to face top talent.

you're on crack meng penn's been a big disappointment and hughes didn't even put up a fight against GSP. 155 is where it's at, and if mirko does come to ufc then i'll gladly pay whatever ridiculous amount they want to see him hand tim sylvia his first KO loss.
