no way, hes an oaf but not unskilled. i train under seth petruzelli who fought him. seth knocked him down but lost the fight. seth's a big guy who is very skilled at stand up and lost the fight...

Here's an example of a decent MMA fighter with limited standup game. Kimo was a decent mma fighter. Sapp is a horrible fighter with terrible cardio. But at 360lbs and extremely strong, he is hard to beat. One of the best kickboxers of all time, Ernesto Hoost, lost to Sapp because Sapp overwhelmed him, but he won the rematch because he has superior fighting skills.
Sapp isn't quite set for life (they did a story on him for HBO's Real Sports). But he is doing quite well. In Japan the man is like Godzilla. Huge crowds follow him where ever he goes. He's doing well with his Japanese endorsements and his roles in movies.

I actually think that would be a very entertaining fight. I don't think Sylvia would kill him because Sylvia has limited standing skill. Would he beat Sapp? Yes. Why because Sapp has a suspect chin. But Sylvia would not have much of a reach advantage against Sapp and therefore wouldn't be able to stay away from him. Sapp's overwhelming size and strength would be something that Sylvia isn't used to.
And let's state the obvious, Sapp isn't a mma fighter. He's a K1 fighter which is quite different. In a purely standup game, very few can deal with a man of Sapps size and strength. Just like the argument about Kimbo and everyone wants to see him fight mma fighters, we should recognize that there is a difference between the two genres. I actually think a standup fight between Sapp and Kimbo would be entertaining as well because they are both brawlers.

According to his wikipedia page, he's done both MMA and kickboxing, and other stuff. He's been in both K1 and Pride.

he is fvcking huge but 350 fairly lean lbs takes a lot of energy and oxygen to move around. his stamina has killed him in at least a few fights. i do think a big part of his weak chin is really him being so out of breath that when he takes a couple shots he gives up real easily. i do love watching him fight though.He's a K-1 kickboxer. On sapp being taken down, he has yet to ever fight a wrestler. He fought Nog who's takedowns are horrible. I would say a wrestler like kevin Randleman would have no problem taking Sapp down. He is to big he will always gas becouse of how much oxygen and energy to power all that mass.

I believe Crocop actually fractured his orbital bone, I am pretty sure it was that and not a broken jaw but I could be wrong.
