Finally did it ... American Top Team !!!
After months of procrastinating, I finally went and joined ATT. I'm so fvcking excited. I start classes on Monday. I'm gonna be taking BJJ and Muay Thai.
I went to the school and spoke with Mike Brown. He's a really cool guy. He did all my paperwork and gave me a tour of the place. Got to meet Ricardo Liborio and Thiago "Pitbull" Alves as well. Jorge Santiago was there training too.
I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. Can't wait to start.
I bought my gi from ATT. It's an ouano. Only thing I didn't get was my Muay Thai stuff ... I'll get those on monday.
ATT baby !

I think I'm gonna need bigger pants. The gi shrinks considerably, right ?
I have an A4 gi. The jacket is pretty big on me but the pants don't fit as big as the jacket. I might have to see if I can trade in the pants for an A5.

I'm heavy right now ... but who knows what I'll be down the road.
And if in the next few years I happen to make it ... the AR bro's will be taken care of.

First day of BJJ went well ... i really like it
My cardio is shit ... first off
Class was pretty cool ... we started off with warm-ups (few laps, push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups) ... then we did take-downs (which was unusual according to some of the guys) ... at the end of class was time to roll ... they wouldn't let me roll since I'm new and don't know anything ... but I did get to go into the ring with one of the black belts and he taught me the kimura and the gi choke .... both from the guard
Tomorrow is Muay Thai .... much more intense from what I hear
So far so good ... I'll keep you guys posted.

just don't get to wrapped up in over complicated moves like kimura's...worry more about the basics

yeah ... the kimura didn't seem too complicated ... i had more trouble with the gi choke than the kimura

it's not that it's complicated but... if you are in a situation when flowing and you are thinking about stuff liket hat instead of the basics "hand positioning ...etc etc" you will get in trouble. I'm still jealous :P

I'm loving this shit ... can't get enough of it
I got the day off today and decided to go to the morning class .... I might even go to the night class as well
Got my first submission today ... felt pretty good .... overall been trying to work on position mostly ... passing guard especially
-
02-23-2007, 12:44 PM #25
passing the guard is one of most important things ever... good to work it
