Using pro wrestling has self defense

Yeah you eard me right tought guys.

I started training in wrestling in 1996 at the age of 24, remove all the flash, the glimmer, and the show, lights and get down to basic wrestling.

Learning to fall, learing to punch, kick, arm locks, leg locks, ankle lock, bulldog head lock, various throws.

All i did for 9 months was learn the basics.

Pro wrestling has a lot of self defense moves, and in my federations guys ended up being injured quit often.

If any of you tought bashing pro wrestling guys have a real set of balls just go to a pro wrestling school and see how long you will last til your tought guys body breaks down, til your neck starts hurting from all the falls, you get a black eye cause you got cought in the eye during practice.

Pro wrestling is for real, they are real athletes, yes its fake its a show but guys get hurt and some get hurt bad.

It's not a competitive sport. It's fake, So I don't consider them athletes. Even though athletic skill is used with very few. Most are very un-athletic...thus the wrestling choice.

When I call it fake, all I really mean is that the matches are choreographed, rather than competitive. I agree there's a lot of training, strength, endurance, physical pain and other "real" stuff involved.

Another thing, I read somewhere that Bob Sapp originally signed a contract to do Pro Wrestling, but was fired because his endurance wasn't good enough. So if that's true, there can be guys whose physical abilities are good enough to make money in K-1 and MMA, but not for Pro Wrestling. At least not with that employer. And I have no idea if the story is true or not.

I agree that a person probably improves their chances in a real-life fight by learning choreographed stunt fighting. Anything's better than being the deer-in-headlights guy with nothing to work with. But I doubt it's much compared to the fight abilities of somebody who trains in an unchoreographed martial art. That's if the athletes are of comparable size, strength, endurance. If anything, I think the pro wrestler guy would learn a lot of bad habits that would be hard to suddenly un-learn once you're in a real fight. I think a lot of football players would probably be better at real fighting than the pro wrestlers, because they do unchoreographed tackling and hitting. That's if the people fighting are of same size, strength, endurance.

BTW, I'm aware that Sapp has made money in choreographed wrestling, in I think a Japanese league, and some minor American league. But the story is that he was fired from WCW for bad endurance.

Guys guys its fake but the basic is not, and if applied properly you can really hurt someone.

My pro wrestling teacher was a great greco roman wreslter, thats what it takes, basics.

you cant compare pro wrestling to actual wrestling
I agree pro wrestling requires great athleticism but pro wrestling is not, once again, real wrestling, even if the moves are similar or the same. The moves can in fact hurt someone, but that doesnt make them a good fighter. BUt yea, from what i hear pro wrestling training can be hell if ur trying to get ur foot in the door. Gotta give props.

Yes but pro wrestling has evolved and there are a lot of submission now, that you learn for real in class.
