    Fight Promoter Licensing in TX

Anyone have any information on this they'd like to share or past experience?

Very hard to find too much information on this topic online other than the Texas ***t. of Licensing and Regulations website.

    Specifically for MMA fights btw.

    Thanks

Not very easy, that is a competitor's license to be allowed to fight.
With a felony you cannot fight in Texas or have any participation in a fight (judge/matchmaker/referee/promoter etc), I'm sure he paid someone off somewhere.

Also boxing and MMA have seperate rules and require different permits because of the chances of injury amoung other things, it is right there with kickboxing.

Texas has also made it's rules much stricter within the last couple years for some reason.

In texas before 2004/2005 only open hand MMA was allowed called shoot-fights, it was sanctioned by texas state and we had some events in Plainview texas and Lubbock under the sanction of a bunch of people called the "Texas-Kickfighter Federation" and unfortunatly they dont have any website it was some dude we called up and we flew him into town from dallas and gave him 500bucks and he basically did all the rules and weigh-ins and he was the ref for all the fights so u can have a sanctioned event.

The only real main MMA event back then was Renegades which was done by Sol Soliz in houston he was a good promoter and also a trainer for some of todays pro's.

After 2004 Texas sanctioned closed-fist MMA and things changed i dont know how things are organized now but go to www.txmma.com and i'm sure u can find lots of info there, if not at least u will find a way to contact sol soliz he knows the whole history of all fightsport in texas and rules.

This will be on the north side of Houston, just purchases a Throwdown Octagon today that will be installed in 6wks. As well as 2500sq ft of training area.

It will be the only full access gym that is a MMA school in the city that I know of.
