i guessed that one. They always tell me at the gym, "paint the floor with his hand, use his fingers as a paintbrush" becasue when i first started i would jerk the guys arm hard as hell. oops. i learned when they did it back to me.

Same thing. I just submitted a dude with that in a grappling tournement a few months ago. That move actually transitions nicely to a full armbar.

I'll try to remember that. Thanks. I try to go to a straight armbar with my one hand under their tricep and the other on their wrist with me in side control still. I dont know the proper name for that armbar, but i think that the one you are refering to is the normal one where his arm is between your legs and you have one leg over his head. The one you suggested is a "better" armbar, i think it will be harder to slip out of.

I wish I could show you the technique. I learned it from a brazillian and when I tell you I nail it everytime, some moves work great when applying another.

americana you are bending it towards his waist and behind his back
key lock you are bending it up over his head

Americana Setup:
Americana - Keylock = Samething! Most Brasilians will say "Americana" while most American teachers say "Keylock".
Of course there are alot of different setups and variations.***No source checks!!!***

Most people at our school call it a paintbrush. I think our instuctor calls it that to help the newer students understand how to apply it.

I love the Americana/Kimura. It's usually the first sub I will go for, just because it's possible to get from so many positions.
