Arona is as good as you get in BJJ,, but way too one dimensional to ever really contend in MMA.

Sorry guys, but what's strange or "disconcerning" about this fight? Did you think (as Arona did) that Rampage was out from the upkick/heals to the headfrom the guard? Because that was BS. Or did you think that it was the headbut at the end of the slam that caused the knockout? I think that claim could be true but hey it can never be proved. Sure rampage hit him with his head hard enough to split his eyebrow on Arona's teeth, but Arona looked out already.

And Pooks, wtf are you talking about saying Arona is "too one dimentional to ever contend in MMA"? Yes he's predictable, but are you forgetting that he has beaten the two best 205/180lb fighters in Pride, Henderson and Silva? His record is practically a who's who of the worlds top fighters from 180lbs to heavyweight. He's got wins over grapplers like Sakuraba, Lister and Machado wins over strikers live Silva, Overeem, Murilo Rua and Mezger. To say he can't compete in MMA is fu*king nonsense.

I like arona a lot. When I first saw him fight I thought he was going to be amazing.

I saw him beat Gonzaga in BJJ, which is no small feat. Than the first few fight he was doing great.

Than I saw the Fedor fight which happened earlier..., where he could not do anything against fedor, in a fight where punches were forbidden.. just straight out wrestling/BJJ etc.

He does not have the boxing skills.. to really compete at championship level.. that is my opinion, you are entitled to your own..

What i wonder is how everyone thinks Arona will fare with UFC rules.. where elbowing is allowed.

Arona seems to like to spend a lot of time, in the full guard, with him on the bottom, looking for mistakes and just as a way to avoid actual boxing on 2 feet.

Now with elbows allowed , that could cause him to have to abandon that strategy of his.

He'll have to go for straight out takedowns, where he ends up on top... Which is not easy, and he can't really do it succesfully..

he is not a great boxer at all.. so
I guess my opinion is, he might fare even worse in the UFC..
