Rampage Speaks On Wanderlei Silva
“I think that if I fought Wanderlei Silva in the UFC I would have beat him. Wanderlei was the Chuck Liddell of Pride. If you were beating Wanderlei on the ground, the referee’s would stand you right up. It happened to me. It happened to other fighters that fought him…. Me and Silva don’t even talk to each other. Silva is the type of guy that thinks everyone should be afraid of him. The way I react around him is different. I am not afraid of Wanderlei Silva. They call him ‘The Axe Murder’ because he destroys people in his fights. They threw him chumps and he murdered them. Look at his record of guys he fought. This guy is ‘The Chump Murderer.’ I speak my mind around him and he looks at me all crazy like I shouldn’t be saying that. I think some of the referees took payoffs in Pride. In Japan, I promise you something was up.”
While a guest on the Opie and Anthony radio show, reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson reflected on his two crushing losses to Wanderlei Silva while the two competed under the Pride FC banner overseas in Japan. It’s widely believed that Silva will drop down to middleweight after his upcoming fight with Keith Jardine at UFC 84: “Ill Will,” which would put a damper on seeing a third match up — this time inside the Octagon — anytime soon.

Rampage will be the light heavy weight champ for a while to come. I like chuck liddel but I think his career is over. As for Wanderlei, if he goes to middle weight I think anderson silva would dominate him. That guy has hands like I have never seen.

sounds like a man looking for an excuse as to why he got "murdered"

Wanderlei doesn't seem to fight with the aggression like he used to. Back then people feared him because his attacks were relentless, the guy was a machine but now he is nothing like his former self. I hope to see that fearless Wanderlei again that would scare the shit out of me just from the prefight staredown.

I mean really Rampage...he's the "chump murderer?" He beat u down twice so if we r to follow your logic...that must make u 1 of the biggest chumps. Right???

Rampage is a showman. I think he knows Wandy handed his ass to him. But I think everyone knows that a third fight would result in a wanderlei loss. Wandy is on the downside of his career IMO. Kinda reminds me if how Lennox Lewis used to talk shyt about Tyson when Tyson was on the downside of his career knowing that a Tyson in his prime would have destroyed Lewis.

The argument that he basically lost because the refs would stand them back up after a take down is kinda far fetched. Hendo knocked Wandy out standing up and he is a wrestler. I do think if the two fought now that rampage would dominate him bad. I like rampage but if you get beat bad twice by someone maybe there was a reason behind it.

im not so sure that wandy wouldnt take it again. i know he has lost 3 in a row but thats what happens when you have to fight 3 of the top fighters in a class.

silva lost to hendo and liddell he got knocked the fuk out by dan henderson then destroyed by chuck in 3 rounds.Rampage went the distance n beat henderson n ko'd liddell.fair enough he lost 2 silva but that was a long time ago in pride, which would do anything to keep him happy,
rampage has come a long way and is the best in his weight class simple as that.the fact is when chuck n wvand was dominateing they was "ahead" of the pack the other fighters have simply caught up with them

i dont know man i think that chuck and wvand are still at the top of the game. they are going to have to loose to a couple of nobodies before i loose faith in them. i dont see where rampage is that dominating. he had that lucky puch (hate to call it that b/c all punches are technical, take reaction time, etc but dont know another term) and really didnt blow dan out of the water, who three months later got dismantled by the 185 champ. im not ready to give rampage the great title yet, however he is a good champ.

i didnt want to use the phrase lucky puch and couldnt think of another way to say it. i was trying to say that there wasnt enough exchange/a long enough fight to see if rampages skills were that much better than chucks. unlike in their first fight in which they battled, and rampage proved to be the better fighter. that is what i was saying.

How can any punch be lucky. You time it, put power into it, Chuck ddint block it, QJ landed it at the perfect spot, and Chuckie got knocked down. I dont see luck anywhere in that.

that is what i ve been trying to say. every punch takes skill, timeing and technique. i didnt mean to offened anyone by saying lucky punch, i finally thought of the term i should have used, landed a single shot. i think that rampage is a great fighter, but i dont put him head and shoulders above every one else yet. he couldnt finish hendo who anderson silva made light work out of three months later.

are you trying to say he didnt???
watch it again maybe he didnt do all that good in the 1st round but from a minute in from the 2nd round to the 3rd he lands nearly evrything he wants, rocks silva 2/3 times and only once gets hit with anything that might worry him.
for someone of silvas caliber thats getting beat very very bad!!!
