Silva has got to be the best pound for pound fighter. He knows how to get the job done thats forsure. even in his new weight class he is dominating.

    I disagree.

Silva has dominated the weakest class in the UFC, it's not suprizing someone can move in and take over that class. Anyone in the top 10 LHW class could do the same easy if they wanted to drop 20lbs.

His tuffest opponet has been Henderson, and lets face it, that was not the Dangerous Dan Henderson we are use to seeing giving a fighter like Silva his back.

He's cleaned out the weakest class and beat a not so decent LHW who is only known cause he caught another not so decent LHW with a super man punch.

Not saying he's a bad fighter, he's amazing, but he won't be dominating the LHW like he does the 185.

j dogg, he has had some respectable fighters (franklin, henderson) but has ran through everyone. he hasn't had a close fight in years. until he gets tested, i can't bet against him vs anyone

but no way 6 months, thats like 2 more fights, assuming one at 185, he still has a couple more at 205. but i bet he would annihilate forest..

I'm not sold on this idea yet also.

Need to see him fight some real Light Heavyweights. Not as someone mentioned in another tread, a guy who Silva out weighs before cutting anyways.

Franklin aside.. If Cote, and the Korean fighter are the best contenders for the middleweight title... I am far from impressed.

Your saying he could beat Rampage, Wandy, Liddell, Rua, etc... He's a great fighter, he's not going to beat ALL those guys.

Anderson is also a HUGE 185er. His striking is sick and he has a 10" reach on everyone in the 185. He has 5" on everyone in the 205. He should be fighting at 205 anyway.

Silva would do well at 205, but it won’t happen anytime soon. He's friends with Machida and has stated he does not want to jeopardize his opportunity at the belt.

I would like to see silva vs. manhoef, but not sure that would ever happen.

Rousimar Palhares might be someone to keep an eye on in the 185 division.

manhoef is in DREAM... UFC doesnt cross promote

though they should to make the best fights, not that manhoef would beat AS (since he will eventually lose to Souza), and because hes in DREAM, i think the only guy in the world who has a shot at 185 is Paulo Filho (which wont happen beacuse AS and him are friends and already stated they wont fight each other)

Toquinho is a real threat at 185... Again hes a BTT guy, (like someone else here ) and personally ive never rolled with him, but from what Bustamante and Bielkheden have mentioned about him, hes the real deal...

Still i dont see AS ruleing 205 the way he does 185... He already has his next two fihgts lined up (against Cote and Okami, both at 185)... So the likelyhood of him coming in and winning against top tier 205ers, is not so realistic.

Doesnt mean he wont be the man at 185, i just dont see him getting past Shogun, Wandy, Page, Forrest, and Chuck... Too much depth...

based on what???? A beating on Irvin (not even top 20)

Lets see how he did at pride (he was fighting at 199 pounds)

Loss Ryo Chonan Submission (Flying Scissor Heel Hook) PRIDE - Shockwave
Loss Daiju Takase Submission (Triangle Choke) PRIDE 26 - Bad to the Bone
Win Carlos Newton TKO (Strikes) PRIDE 25 - Body Blow
Win Alexander Otsuka Decision (Unanimous) PRIDE 22 - Beasts From The
Win Alex Stiebling TKO (Cut) PRIDE 21 - Demolition

    3-2, not so impressive hu?

No doubt Anderson is a great fighter, but cleaning out the weakest division in the UFC doenst mean he will be able to run troughout the whole LHW, where are fighting guys like wandy, chuck, forrest, shogun, soku, page, lyoto...

Besides, I dont see DW putting his star on the line, I mean, as long as fedor is out the UFC, dana has to have one guy that compites with him for the best p4p in the world, UFC, the biggest org in the world, cannot afford not to have the best fighter in the planet. (not to mention Fedor has signed with it's biggest threat in the future). That's why he already set 2 fights for him, gave him an easy can on cote, and then okami...

    ^^^ hes right...

I can see AS being a contender at 205, but no way hes going to beat Wandy, Chuck, Shogun, Page, or Forrest...

He might have a chance against Soku, Lyoto(though they wont fight each other because of a friendship) and T. Silva and Jardine, but thats about it...

Lol hes the champ because Page wanted to come out and box him... I personally blame it on his training, i dont recall him looking for takedowns at all...

Not the Rampage im used to seeing...

that combined with Forrest training with Wandy... Let us not forget the Chute Boxe destruction of Rampage time and again

idk yal may call me crazy but griffins came along way and he ant goin down witout a brawl.

  23. #23
Griffen has come into his own and can hold his own against anyone out there. Saying that the Rampage fight was a joke is just that...a joke. Rampage was healthy and in shape. No excuses. The fight was razor thin but I believe if those two fought ten times they would probably go 5-5. As far as Silva is concerned, he is an amazing fighter with a sick skill set but those guys fighting at 205 are generally walking around at 220 to 230. That is a ton of size to be giving up regardless of how insanely good you are. There would no doubt be some very interesting match ups though.

6 months?? Guys who fight A LOT fight 4-5 times a year. So in 6 months Silva will have 2 max. Which means he will fight wandy, liddel, rampage, lyoto, or shogun, defeat them and immediately be given a title shot...not to mention beating griffin.

    Not very likely.

I think AS would be a real bad match up for Griffin. AS and Chuck would be great, I think that one would be one of the greatest. As far as Wandy vs AS, Wandy has a hard time against guys with a reach advantage, I dont think he could get close enough to AS with out taking BIG damage first. For the record I hope Lyota doesnt make it, his fight with Tito suc'd, I dont want to see a champion run away the whole fight....even if thats his style Joe Rogan. lol

Right on. Silva is awesome. He is a serious opponet for anyone but...I can't see anyone running through the top 10 LHW's. He will be ONE of many greats in that division. This is not a Silva knock.

well, AS is certanly not the guy to beat fedor...may be in a couple of years, Some new start may appear, but as for now, I dont think anyone stands a chance... may be barnett...

  30. #30
I don't see Forrest being the title holder in the near future. I don't think he is good enough.
I mean Rampage would have trampled him to the ground had his knee been okay, and Juanito not pushing him to box it up.

AS can be a force to rekon with at 205, he just needs to make the necessary adjustments to the stronger opponents.

I mean Look at Brandon Vera, when he came down from Heavy to LightHeavy, he did not adjust properly and had a poor performance. Its all about adjustments.

  31. #31
Adjustments, yes. But Brandon Vera, as talented as he may be, is not Anderson Silva.

And it's harder coming down in weight then going up...Brandon Vera caome down mostly though dehydration and water manipulation and that is a VERY BAD move in a sport such as MMA, if you are not hydrated properly you are as good as done...he pulled off a shitty win in my opinion...

  33. #33
Agreed. He is a talented fighter that can use his athletic ability and technique to get some quality wins over some of the heavies but I just don't see him doing well at light heavy

Ya but he only cut from like 225, wich is pretty standard for a LHW. I'm a Vera fan but I wasnt really impressed with his 205 debut.

Im not a Vera fan and im not impressed by him period. Really i just hate him because he beat a friend of mine named Andre Mussi. But overall, you know this guys mouth has more ability than his fists do...

I really started disliking him when he came out and said "Im gonna be the HW and LW champ at the same time so everyone look out" Then he dropps two straight and fights like crap against an undersized journeyman in Reese Andy... The guy has a big mouth...
