Pound for Pound List
Who in your mind is the top pound for pound fighter? Is it possible for a Heavyweight to be considered the top lb for lb fighter? Is it BJ or George or is it Nog or Fedor? Where does someone like Forrest Griffin fit in? He beats everyone thrown his way yet never looks dominating in doing so. Does that carry more weight than a guy like Dan Henderson who has a recent string of losses yet could concievably hold the belt in 2 to 3 divisions?

Pound for pound lists mean absolutely nothing.
They are worthless in my opinion.
With that being said .... Fedor is #1.Last edited by QuieTSToRM33; 10-03-2008 at 07:19 PM.

Sanchez has an unbelievable gas tank and is relentless but I feel like he comes up short against damn near everyone in the top 10 at welterweight. I mean he was competitive against Kos but in my mind it was never really close. Tough kid for sure but I guess we will talk after Alves. And just for the record if he pulls that off I owe you an apology.
Filho in the top 5? Ouch, that would make Sonnen #4 then! I am interested to see how he bounces back after their last fight. Can't wait till November!
I can't believe no one has mentioned Kimbo!

I'd go with anderson silva. I'd like to see him and gsp fight if if one of them would move divisions.

That would be a great fight for sure but just off sheer size I would give it to the Spider. I would really love to see Penn fight some legit 205'ers. I really think that he could pretty mcuh give anyone a good go.

Dude did you watch their fight?
I dont know where you get off thinking Sonnen is anywhere on the same level! His biggest win is against Amar Suloev, while Ely has beat him, Minowa, Kondo, Sakurai, Ninja, Chonan, Misaki, Doerkson, and SONNEN!
Hes undeafeated for God sakes!
Sorry to tell you bro, Filho WON! Sure, Sonnen was winning on the feet, everyone knows Ely has suspect standup, but he tapped. He may not of tapped out with his hands, but he yelled "TAP!"
Just in case you forgot!

What about that slam my man? I am not saying that Filho did not win the first fight but i feel like he was exposed. I think that he gets overwhelmed on the feet again and Sonnen plays it smart and does not follow him to the ground. I would gladly make some sort of bet on this one.

Oh yeah, when does Arona fight again? I look forward to seeing Lindland with muscle back in action.

I got the Pitbull by KO rd 1 BG...
Diego is a never going to be the champ at 170.
He should think about dropping some BF% and move to 155 like KenFlo.
And Arona is going to be fighting again very soon. DREAM and the UFC are the main contenders for his services.

This may sound pathetic but I always wanted to see Arona and Tito fight. In Tito's prime that would have been amazing. These days I think Arona takes it on shear power. Not to mention those unorthodox low kicks.

Well thats just a bad matchup for Tito...
Did you see them grapple at Abu Duabi?
Arona is just plain better on the ground.

He has to show up eventually. Machida is a great fighter but I am not sure he is up there on P4P lists. Well i guess we will find out in the next year. He's going to have to fight someone decent enventually.

How can you POSSIBLY pick anyone other than Fedor? Whenever people make these threads I get the feeling that everyone feel like they can't pick a heavyweight or else they aren't factoring in the "pound for pound" requirement.
Fedor is #1 without a doubt. Besides, he's not that big for a heavyweight either.

I think that the only fight he ever "lost" was stopped due to a cut... Correct? Is it also true that the Spider has lost 4 times? Not sure if these statements are accurate... Any comments?

Wasn't Fedor also undefeated as Russian Sambo champion?
-

Fedor's only loss was due to a "cut" and Spider has lost 4 times. But both are far removed from the losses. I think when judging pound for pound you should evaluate on the right now as opposed to the whole body of work. They both are obviously amazing and are "Hall of Fame" caliber but who at this very moment is pound for pound that baddest dude in MMA. I say Fedor, Penn, A. Silva, GSP, Hendo

Yes Fedor's only loss is due to a cut.
The story goes like this.
Fedor fought in a Rings tourny, his first fight was against Ricardo Arona, Ricardo cut him in the fight with a punch. Anyway, Fedor wins the fight by Decision.
His next fight is against Tsuyoshi "TK" Kohsaka . They fight, Fedor was winning, and TK throws a elbow and cuts him in the same place Ricardo cut him.
The only problem, elbows are illegal. The doc says Fedor cannot continue. In most cases, this fight is a No Contest of a loss DQ for TK.
But since it was a tourny, someone had to go on to the final round.
Just for the record, they fought again in Pride, where Fedor beat him for about 10 mins until the fight was stopped.

One of Anderson's losses was the most ridiculous submissions ive ever seen.
Ninja knows what im talking about.
haha

Chonan? Rolling knee bar? The disgusting thing as well is that Chonan was not winning but holding his own on his feet. That was the most amazing sub I have ever seen.
-

Just for the record i have seen the Arona Fedor fight and i thought that Arona won. Not convincingly but i would have given him the nod

^^ A lot of people have said that...
Arona is SO underrated...
People dont like him cause he does kinda have a LnP style but... Still, an amazing fighter...
The guy is a brute. Just ridiculously strong... Stronger than Nog IMO...
-
10-07-2008, 03:47 PM #38
Who in your mind got the better in rolling and sparring between Lil Nog and Arona?
-
10-07-2008, 04:31 PM #39
Man Im glad you said that, thats why Im looking so foward to Arona coming back , if not Randy I think Arona is smart enough, strong enough and wont get caught so easy in an arm bar to beat Fedor. Times running out on Fedor, a more mature Gonzaga soon will be a good match up too.
