Its all about money with these guys. The best fights never happen because of money and politics. This is why MMA is taking over.

^^^Let's not start this debate. MMA is not taking over brotha. Boxing fans and MMA fans are different and they are two different sports.

^^^I too am a fan of both, but I was speaking in terms of hardcore fans. While I am a big fan of MMA, I am not nearly the fan of MMA as I am of boxing. And living in the fight capital of the world, I see this often. A lot of people are casual fans of both, but most draw a clear distinction between the two.
Madd Matt, I see your point, but I actually think this is a good fight for Ricky. While Im not saying he'll beat Manny (as a matter a fact I don't think he will), many is a smaller fighter. Hatton has had problems when he steps above 140lbs. Manny is truly a natural 135lber. Plus Manny is a banger like Hatton so it should be an action fight. I was really looking forward to this fight.
With that said, if it doesn't happen, it leaves open a June/July Manny/Floyd fight. I spoke with Floyd this weekend and he did express interest in coming out of retirment if the money is right. But Floyd would fight Godzilla if it paid 50+million, LOL!!!!!Last edited by BgMc31; 01-21-2009 at 01:57 PM.

That is a good point but the Klitchko's are pretty good but there is no real oposition and they wont fight each other. I was a big Shannon Briggs fan when he was fighting.

What i dont get is the haterade going on in boxing. If im getting my 20mil to fight, what difference does it make what percentage the other boxer gets?

I personally prefer mma but boxing is still the real deal to me. Saying that they avoid good match ups is pretty far from the truth. Just look at some of the fights this past year.

If you're the draw and the 'other' fighter is getting more money, wouldn't that piss you off a bit. Its a respect thing. That is why Mayweather/Delahoya II never took place. Even though both fighters would get a guarantee of about $25+ million, Floyd figured he should get the lions share of the gate and PPV because he's the pound4pound and won the 1st fight. Delahoya figured he should get more because he brings the crowd and is more popular. The same is happening with Hatton/Pacquiao. Its just the business of boxing...and remember it is a BUSINESS, not a toughman contest.

...again...not gonna happen!!!!! Pacquaio always has problems with slick fighters. And they don't come slicker than Floyd!!!! Floyd's got more handspeed and much better defense than Pacman. Floyd won't play the sluggem game, he'll keep that fight boring by staying away from Pacman and pick him apart.
