Anderson Silva
Since it has pretty much been established that this will be his last full year of fighting, does anyone else find it disturbing that they are wasting his draw power and talent? I mean Lietes is tough but if Silva has only 4 to 5 fights left then why Thales? If it weren't for the 2 fouls that Marquardt commited he would have lost that fight for sure. I was really hoping to see Silva fight people like Chuck, Shogun, Rashad, GSP, etc. It would be terrible if Silva finished his career against the likes of Thales, Kampmann, Maia, Marquardt, and Okami. Just my thoughts.

Hopefully we'll see a showdown late in the year against GSP.
-

Agreed. But I am starting to question how good of a fight that would be for GSP. Anderson is huge or a middleweight and in all truth is probably a 205'er. If he is on his way out and most would make him a large favorite the UFC would be taking a huge risk to have GSP risk getting Ko'd.

I`m sure GSP could get on the A-rod diet and bulk up to 185.
-

Nice. No doubt. He is a big boy already but when guys are as good as him and Anderson I think that every lb counts.
-

Especially when you take into consideration the fact that GSP will try to take that fight to the ground and a bigger Silva will be more likely to stuff those TD's
-

Likely true and i would give the advantage to Silva but GSP is faily large for 170 so if he could effectively bulk to 185 I`m sure it would be a war.

I doubt he will retire at the end of this year. Ed Soares just said it in a interview recently. I wanna see him fight Yushin, GSP, Hendo, at 205 against Page, Rashad, Lyoto(will never happen though)

...
if they have stated that Machida and Silva wont fight, is there anything against a A.Silva/V.Silva fight @ either 185 or 205?

Guys, I am unconvinced GSPld beat Dan Henderson let alone Anderson Silva, the weight is too much. I think it's a great match up, but too much for GSP to overcome, even with his skill set.
Light heavy is where the real challenges are with a few super fights. At middle weight a fight with Wandy sounds ok but what will Wandy be like after years of not having to cut? I think LTHVY is the weight for this match.
Then we have Rampage, Rua, Liddell (however he spells it) and a potentially sublime match up with Forrest, although Forrest is a big guy, maybe too big. I don't see any one at middle weight beating him but with the exception of Wandy all the others could beat him or lose to him..... even matches

btw...a.silva would destroy v.silva. and I loves me Wandy...

plus, anderson is wandys thai coach if I remember right or one of them anyway. I know I trained with his first thai coach (roberto picinnini), but then he was shipped to usa to start chute boxe usa(formerly beverly hills jiu-jitsu). anyhow, same team, coaches, etc. doubt that fight would happen...

I am telling you guys, the best matchup for Silva would be Vitor .... I would pay good money to watch that one happen. I'll take vitor btw.

^very good point. Vitor looked really good in his last fight and moves very well at 185

Part of me still feels like the only way Anderson will lose if he fights a smart wrestler. Hendo and Lindland have the wrestling part on but I am not sure of how smart they would fight.

Why not just put Silva against Fedor. That would be interesting, at 205lbs. They both have not lost in forever. I dont think Fedor has ever lost??

I still go with ANderson based on mental toughness. Vitor always seems to break under pressure. It was nice to see him knock the stink off of Lindland though

yes vitor he is off and on........the only other one I wold like to see is silva against page...I think that would be a great fight...
-

agreed. no clue who would win but i lean towards page. I would love to see that.

we need to call dana white up and tell him how we think and he needs to send us a cool million for the time and effort we put in to his fight cards.....even though we cant pick a fight to save our lives..
-
02-11-2009, 08:43 AM #31
Now we are talking. Maybe we should just have him join the site and after he gets a taste of our knowledge I am sure we would both have jobs as either analysts or match makers. I will be the man to get Fedor over to the UFC. First fight for Fedor.....James Irvin

you are correct. im sure they both are training elsewhere now.(west coast, Vegas, etc)
BUT, if you know Brazilians, they are a very tight family in the MMA world. It is very hard to cross train with other camps, etc. Im sure they are still very tight. there is a strong foundation in Brazilian MMA/Vale Tudo/ BJJ etc, a family orientated business. im sure many gyms are alot of the same family, brothers, sisters, cousins, etc training together.
Strong bond is what I am trying to say.

Not so much anymore my friend.
Take it from me bro.
Case and point; Wand and Nog trained together before their most recent fights.
not to mention AS and Vitor both have trained with BTT and Chute Boxe.
The rivalry isnt as intense as years past.
Its all about being the best and training with the best.

yes, I can see that. I have seen that alot with American teams, but the Bz's are alot more customary I think. I hope that is the case, as cross training with different teams is so beneficial. very rarely do you see a gym that has it all- world class bjj, boxing, thai, wrestling, judo, conditioning.
