    MMA types of weight training?

    hey guys
very new to the sport done my second session last night. having a blast

few questions. as i haven't seen any stickys that show types of training done or diet.

i have seen one link posted.

    weightlifting for MMA

this was posted by QuietstormM33 good post btw.

do many people go by this routine? or is there other routines that people would like to share, i am currently training 5 days a week weight training, but that was for muscle and strength and a change wouldn't hurt also.

any help and info would be great.

    thanks

It’s really a matter of preference, a lot of guys do weight circuit training, going from one exercise to another non stop to combine the resistance work with a good cardio workout. (Have a look at Rich Franklin’s workout routine if you need an example of this, you should find it on youtube)

Personally I disagree, I think weightlifting for fighters should be heavy compound lifts and the cardio should be done separately or along with sparing.

I agree with both methods and think its a matter of cycling the workouts.

I find that I'm constantly balancing between strength and cardio. When I focus on my lifting I get so much stronger but my endurance in grappling suffers and vice a versa. The main problem is that I only have a limited time (6hrs/wk) to train. The best overall balance for me is a workout cycling medium weights and plyometrics. I'm not as strong as when I'm lifting heavy but I'm explosive and I can last on the mat. Good luck to you.
