Am I overdoing it?
My question is whether Im overtraining or not i have a fight in 30 days ....my routine goes like this....
Monday Legs in the early morning and rest in the afternoon
Tuesday Chest & Triceps early in the morning and then at 7 one hour kickboxing and half an hour grappling
Wednesday Back (including deadlifts) rest afternoon
Thursday Legs early in the morning, at 8:30 1 hour intense grappling/sparring/conditioning (this is the hardest day)
Friday Chest and Triceps in the early morning rest afternoon....
This doesnt seem like too mnuch but I have a physical job...I usually go to work at 8 after my postworkout meal....I also work on saturdays, and on the weekends my girlfriend sleeps at my place since fridays...

Sounds like youre under pre-pared if anything.
Two days of training and 5 days of lifting?
Looks like youre confused.

I agree. I am used to more like 3 days of bjj / kickboxing training (20 minutes sparing after) and 2 days of sparring for an hour each.
Then lift for 3 days a week :P

alright, so now that you guys have adviced...how should my routine look like...unfortunately the only day that I see my training partners are on thursday evenings..thats when i get it all out but....i can throw in another kickboxing class on mondays afternoon...and an hour sparring session friday nights....but already with this routine that I carry right now ...(i know it sounds like a complete whimp...I FEEL exhausted....) I like lifting in the mornings cause usually there is no classes at 6 in the morning and my training partners cant meet me at that time...as a matter of fact the dojo isnt even open...theyre lazy..but anyways....should i not lift some days in the mornings....if so which days should be the best to not lift in the mornings? thanks for the knowledge shared

I would scale back the weightlifting to 3 days/week and increase your training to as much as you can handle.

Not trying to offend you or anything, but you hardly sound ready for a fight. Now i assume its an AM fight, which to some is no big deal, but honestly, i train my guys to win fights.
You shouldve been training at least 5 days a week for the last 2 weeks. Now youre about a month away and youre not prepared.
Id be looking for a new gym/trainer if i were you. Sounds like your current one doesnt give a shit if you win or lose.
Either buckle down and train your ass off for the next 4 weeks, and try to do the best you can, or pull outta thr fight before its too late. Either way, im not a big fan of sending guys in there to get wrecked.

didn't you just start training... i just commented on where you said im gonna start training now...you dont think your fighting a little early? Also i see that your doing barely any standup classes....just 1 hour of kickboxing a week will get you hurt out here bro...you gotta stay safe man dont just throw yourself in there...get that standup right dont worry about the lifting as much as the sparring...what weight are you fighting at?

im sorry i just read where you said you cant get that much sparring in and your gym is lazy...get some shadow boxing(kicks too) in and work those combos, work them until they're all you know, that way when you step in the cage and all that training they gave you is out the door. its all muscle memory. and i dont know if your BJJ coach taught you but there's like a shadowgrappling (i know i made the word up) i used to do back with team nogueira where we went through like 7 positions over and over. needless to say i never had a problem on the ground cuz it was all muscle memory.

thanks for the advice people...i have now changed my training to this...
Monday mornings cardio 1 hours....intervals intense....
MOnday evenings rolling and sparring (if my partners cant make it I do shadow)
Tuesdays early morning....lifting....evening kickboxing then rolling 30 minutes
Wednesday Cardio Morning intervals...evening I train if my body can handle it if I dont think i can i rest and
Thursdays cardio early mornings....Heavy sparring and rolling 1hour and a half
Fridays.. lift......if I feel ok i do a sparring session of 30 min and roll for another 30 min...
sat off
sun off...
With your advice I am now doing the best I can...yes u are right war Machine...the coaches and owner pretty much dont give a damn if i get my ass busted as long as I keep paying...but its all i can afford at the moment..its the cheapest in town and i got a deal cause I really wanted to train so I clean the place and get a good discount....Unfortunately i just came to the country and just got my papers so started working a cleaning job....getting my shit together....cant pay for anything else ill just follow ur advice and train as hard as I can....I know that THE better trained person will win ..but I give my heart in every session...thanks to all....ill keep u guys posted...
btw....ITS not even a bjj club...its a jiujitsu club in canada....not very good ....but anyways...i just took a seminar with christophe tetard (BJJ)....and feel better..again thanks

not being funny mate but if your training for a fight your routine and weight program should be much more intensive and advanced than what youv stated, your clearly not ready bro

lifting weights in preparation for an MMA fight?
MAYBE some kettlebell full body workouts...but weightlifting?
I would abandon the weights all together...you need MAT strength, strength that you can USE in your FIGHT....if you want to work out, then go to intense interval training....incorporate activities that mimic movements related to what you are training for.....sprawls, rope climbs, plyometric movements, heavy bag tosses, punching drills....
when i did submission fights/tournaments allll weights were stopped....why get injured in a weight room doing something that really has nothing to do with what the culminating event is about....intense sparring....drills...conditioning...the worst were the "death rolls" ..6 - 7 minutes of non stop sparring with a fresh partner jumping in on every minute mark...TORTURE......
if you want to pursue a pro fighting career....find a new school, or dont fight until you do, not worth getting injured for lack of a good training camp...
you only get one body....

Kettlebell lifting is GREAT for prefight training. And I also agree with thabeast there...round robbin (death rolls as he calls it) is the best part.
