UFC will own MMA in less then a year
Seeing how almost all the big players close there doors.
IFL, Pride, they say Dream 11 is not sure to happen, Affliction even if it was not that big,Bodog and many more.
I am not sure how heatly StrikeForce is, the fact that they want a partnership with M-1 Global might mean they are on a losing end has well.
UFC is the only organization where the fighters are under contract that prevent them to fight anywhere, I mean look at StrikeForce, Babalu and Overeem are champions but fight in other promo.
Still would be nice if the UFC had competition.

Its going to suck when they have everyone. Its no good for the fighters. They cant fight for better paydays when they have no bargaining chips. Its bad when a guy has to fight for 3,000/3,000 and maybe only gets 3/4 fights a year with the UFC. Plus dana wont let them make money else where. Its bullshit

it will suck d**k! it will be much better if there are a couple of ORGs around, and the UFC allow their fighters to compete against other fighters, It will be great a UFC vs The World tournament.

Well right now UFC got some pertty good $$$ and knockout bonus, fight of the night and sub of the night which are always between 60k and 100k.
Even if a guy fights 3-4 times a year, of course he has to win and make an name for himself he can make some pertty sick money, including merchandise and all that comes with the UFC hype.

Sports are one of the only businesses that monopolies are actually better for the sport. It's worked fabulously for football, baseball, and basketball. The problem with fighting (MMA and boxing) is the athletes themselves have no voice. If fighters unionized, the way other major sports have, they would/could negotiate %s. And if the orgs don't want to play fair, the fighters strike. It worked well for football and baseball and the threat of a strike worked for basketball as well.

true. Most have to own or teach at schools just to be able to survive.Plus if you lose 3 in a row you are cut. This is why some guys make more fighting 6 times a year for Rage in the cage,or Ring of Combat. They will end up making more than they would in the UFC.Dont get me wrong, everyone is looking to fight in the UFC though

For casual fans it wont matter but for fighters and hardcore fans a monopoly is the worst thing for the sport.
You need competition, without competition we will get Evans/Bisping, Jardine/Rampage, Belfort/Franklin PPV's.

Exactly. Great post.
Honestly at this point the UFC does own MMA, whether most people want to admit or not. They have the majority of the top fighters per weight class, and have the highest ratings per event compared to other fight promotions (m1/strikeforce, wamma, ect. ect.) Good marketing and a big wallet play into this though.
When Fedor's contract eventually runs out with m1/strikeforce and he HOPEFULLY joins the UFC to face some top 10 competitors, they will almost own every top tier fighter in MMA( as far as casual fans go, anyways)

I don't know man....If I have a full time job why bother for 6k....
The time and effort put into the fight is just gonna make very tired, break ur wallet on groceries and supps, and not see ur kids and wife properly... It's not too hard to get a full time job that pays that,
true fighters do it because they like it but it's just wrong not to be payed when you are entertaining big crowds, And IMO martial artists would see fighting just as another aspect of their way of living, so why earn 24k a year busting ur ass at the gym and risking a good beat up, when u can find jobs that pay 75k and still have time to work out, not be too tired to see ur kids and properly do ur husband duties, even some time for community work...
Just my thought
