    Learning Boxing websites?

I was wondering if anyone knows any good websites for basic boxing skills to training routines and anything to get me started to hit a heavy bag.

Ive been hitting the heavy bag from time to time and I have been asked if I was a boxer. ( I said no but I guess I look like I know what Im doing I guess. I know I don't know shi.t)

So today I had a boxer show me some tips and found out that I truly know shi.t. He said my punches are decent but I have no defence which i found out by accidental jab he gave me. Now it wouldn't of been too bad except he's 270lbs and im 160. lol........... Its a good thing it wasn't that hard. Just a fat lip and a good laugh.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thx

bro a lot of times at gyms were they train bjj/boxing/sub grappling anything like that they will give you a couple free lessons to try it out. Check out a few places and ask for some help on hitting the heavy bag and technique. That should get you started.

but as Bjpennn mentioned, nothing better than going to your local boxing gym and having some sessions, very cheap in my area, only £1 a lesson!!

I believe you can learn a lot of boxing theory from watching videos. |Nothing beats practice but videos are a good way to start. Do a search on google or youtube try something like "how to slip a jab" or "how to counter a left hook"

    YouTube has some good stuff

If you want I could send you some links to make sure your not watching some guy that doesn't really know what he's doing.

Not to toot my own horn but I'm a former amateur boxer.

These are all by one of the best trainers in the world(if not the best) Freddie Roach who's sadly suffering from Parkinson's disease.

he has a ton of these clips on here and if you surf YouTube can find them

The main thing when watching these vids is look for guys that are in boxing gyms as opposed to basements

I think working with someone who knows what they are doing is invaluable. They can watch and correct you, which is key. Its alot easier to learn the right way and develop that than to unlearn poor form and relearn the right way. Videos are good, and by all means practice in the mirror, on bags etc, but do yourself a favor and atleast from time to time get a lesson from a good coach to sure up your practice. Practice doesnt make perfect, perfect practice does!!!!
