big fight tonight with GSP vs. Dan Hardy. Should be an easy fight for GSP, but you never know.
Carwin vs. Mir should be awesome.
Sux Alves is out and may not fight again. He was awesome.
can't wait.

GSP cleaned out his class a long time ago.
They keep hyping up these fighters to fight him, but GSP is in zero danger of loosing to Dan Hardy. I love how GSP says Hardy is his toughest competition yet.
I'm more interested in Carwin/Mir than watching GSP blanket and embarrass Hardy.
GSP is now walking around over 200lbs, its time to move up. Im not saying this to nag on the Silva/GSP match, but its time to come to grips that while he is an awesome fighter, he is purposely fighting weaker opponents.
why would GSP move up to 205? dont you think he should go to 185 first IF he wants to?
yes he is the king at 170 but is that his fault? dana white should either bring in stiffer competition or the ufc fighters that exist should polish up their game like he has.
anyway the the end of the day he is 20-2 and has defended his belt 4 times. only one loss in the last 5 years, andhes canadian. all around awesome dude
who won the fights?
carwin,georges,fitch,cant remember the undercard names
some geared up monkey(wallace i bleive) lost hard at the end. it was obvious he was on tons of gear. even joe rogan said"that kind of muscle isnt even natural"
GSP naturally don't way over 200 so why would he ever try to compete in 205?
he said himself he might struggle to fight in 185 since that is the natural weight he likes to be at fight time. where as most of the guys in 185 walk into the ring at 200....
not all of fighting is just putting on weight . its what weight you feel your body works best at. and if GSPs big thing is he still has the same strength in the 5th round as he does the first, i'm sure adding 20pounds of muscle would change that.
when it comes to pound for pound GSP is in a three way tie for best pound for pound fighter .
Gsp will lose whenever somebody is smart and trained and disciplined enough to figure out a way of not getting takendown... Cause when he takes u down there is no coming back... He is just too fvckinh strong ... You could tell he knew his striking sucks against hardy's (which is not the best but it's decent) ... Gsp def needs to improve his stand up and he is aware of it... I'm sure with his discipline he will achieve true pound for pound best fighter
no flame bro but you may still be sleeping. silva is the champ at 185,not 205. lol
reguardless we all know that would be THE best ufc match. andersons standup is sick, but GSP could hold his own in the fight especially on the ground.
I wouldn't say that his stand up sucked compared to Hardy's, he just took the fight where he knew he had a enormous advantage instead of no advantage or only a slight advantage at best. GSP has beaten up on half decent strikers before (exhibit A:Fitch).
That's the reason why GSP is one of the best, he has a game plan and he sticks to it.
great point.. the whole point of MMA is to literally mix styles of fighting and see who can play their game the best and win.
so when people flame a fighter for fighting only the way they are best at, is like talking shit to jerry rice for never playing line backer.. GSP is great at take downs, and great on the ground, no reason to stand up with somebody if they are dumb enough to go to the ground, or weak enough to be allowed to be taken to the ground.
I didnt imply that GSP should fight @ 205, just stated that he has been walking around over 200. The next logical step is 185. He said it himself during the pre-fight interview, he expected to weigh-in somewhere around 191-192 entering the ring. I think 185 would be an awesome place for him to disply his skills. Doesnt even need to be against Silva... Marquartd, Sonnen, Maia etc would make for some great fights. Hell, throw in Belfort as well. Big names, big fan bases, big money!!!
i think its pretty obvious people want GSP vs Silva. I know i want to see it, man that would be a dream match-up. Anderson's stand-up versus GSP's ground game.
I think it's unfair people trying to push GSP v Silva, give GSP chance to fight a few warm-ups at 185 before taking on the worlds best 185er.
GSP-Hardy was frustrating just wanted to see GSP stand up and bang, but when your wrestlings like that what's the point.
Shane Carwin has got some serious power man!!
^yup, carwin is gonna kill the man 2 posts above^

I want to see a rematch against Koscheck he as been on a role since GSP beat him and as gotten a lot better with is stand up.
Yeah I Like Kos too, he's much improved. But maybe it's time for gsp to start working his way into 185, everyone got on Penn & Silva to move up so I think it's only the natural progression.
I'm sure GSP wont disapoint
^ agreed, i think GSP has no other challenges to his title. i mean i say make the move to MW. Go after anderson's title
I don't think Carwin will kill Lesnar either, I think people forget how god damn big Lesnar is. It'll be one hell of a bang though.
1 not to be missed
Carwin is the man. He absolutely handed Mir his ass on a plate was mental. Mir tried and failed miserably to stand up with him. And Carwin is an immensely big and strong guy. His biceps and triceps are like tree trunks there mental.
Mir's ego got the best of him. He threw a 4 or 5 punch flurry to back Carwin against the cage just to prove he wasent afraid to go toe to toe. Mir a year ago would have thrown a jab, fake a 2nd punch and gone for a takedown and that would have been a way to go to try and wear carwin down, not wear him out by letting him throw punches at his face until he got tired.
This is true I'm not quite Sure what Franks game plan was for that fight, but it's clear he would have been better off looking for a smarter way to get him to ground.
Look @ GSP v Hardy, georges didn't stray from his gameplan once takedown after takedown. Although it was a little frustrating to watch it was the definition of executing a gameplan to perfection (or nearly didn't stop Hardy).
That is true. I like Mir to be honest he is a good fighter but he needs more strength and boxing. As you say he would have just tried in the past go to the ground and use his Jiu Jitsu etc to try and get him out of the trouble. He seemd like as if he was over whelmed by the strength and pace of Carwin he threw some seriously rapid punches.
To answer the question directly, yes, there are fighters who can stop GSP (possibly). Just not at 170,.
I like many others would love to see Silva vs GSP but there are plenty of intriguing matchups at 185 for George. The person who matters most when it comes to picking GSP’s next opponent is Dana White(and the boys). He cares about the fights that will make the most money or that will have the most upside for the UFC.
One would have to imagine that GSP vs Anderson Silva, right now, would be the biggest money fight in MMA history. These guys have both dominated their respective weight classes for so long that they have pretty much run out of opponents (in their normal weight classes).
With that in mind and thinking of this from a business point of view, do you think it is better that have GSP fight a contender at 185 instead of Silva or just jump right into a title fight? Personally I think it would be too risky to have him fight a Sonnen/Marquart type. He can definitely lose a fight like that and then the big fight vs Silva loses some of its luster and some of it profitability.
I'm sure that there are more variables than that to consider and the UFC will certainly consider them all. I truly feel that we will see Silva vs GSP happen very soon. Fingers crossed.
gonna have to book that new stadium in dallas that holds 105,000 if those two fight. with another big fight and a good undercard, they could draw a SERIOUS crowd
I doubt we will ever see GSP vs A. Silva though..
According to him, last I heard anyways, he will be retiring when his current UFC contract is up. (If I am correct, that is something like 2-4 more fights..)
^ ohhh well , it was worth hoping for
