    Jon Jones busted ... again

‘Bones’ Jones charged with DWI, negligent use of gun

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Apparently Jon “Bones” Jones hasn’t been staying home.

The 32-year-old UFC light heavyweight champion was charged with DWI, negligent use of a weapon, possession of an open container and not having proof of insurance after police say they found him in Downtown Albuquerque in a running vehicle early Thursday morning.

Jones’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment and his publicist declined to comment.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, a little after 1 a.m. two Albuquerque Police Department officers heard a gunshot near 3rd and Central. When they arrived they said they saw “two unknown homeless subjects” and a black Jeep, which was running but parked.

Jones was in the driver’s seat, according to the complaint. It is unclear if the homeless people were in the Jeep or how they were connected to the incident.

Jones told police he did not know anything about the gunshot, according to the complaint. A DWI officer was called to the scene.

“I observed that he had blood shot watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his facial region,” the DWI officer wrote in the complaint. “He did admit to driving earlier and had the intention to drive now.”

Jones exited the Jeep and performed poorly on three field sobriety tests, according to the complaint. His breathalyzer test was “at or above twice the legal limit,” the officer wrote.

According to an incident report, the officer found a partially empty liquor bottle and a loaded black handgun in the Jeep and a spent round outside the driver’s side door that matched the caliber of the handgun. The officer said he also saw that Jones had “a green, leafy substance on his shirt and pants, consistent with marijuana.”

Gilbert Gallegos, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, said the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will test the firearm and bullet casing as part of the investigation.

“Reducing gun violence in Albuquerque is our top priority,” he wrote in an email.

Jones was booked into the county jail and immediately released. His next court hearing is set for April 9.

He's toxic, a train wreck in slow motion.

Jon Jones bodycam arrest video: March 26, 2020, Albuquerque, N.M.

He's wearing skinny jeans. Deserves jail time just for that.

If you'd like to wager on Jon Jones' future, these prop bets are for you

The folks over at gambling site SportsBetting.ag have come up with these prop bets:

Will Jon Jones be stripped of title belt before the end of 2020?
    Yes -550
    No +325
Will Jon Jones be arrested again before the end of 2020?
    Yes -150
    No +110
Will Jon Jones spend night in jail before the end of 2020?
    Yes -140
    No +100
Will Jon Jones fight in UFC again before the end of 2020?
    Yes +300
    No -500

Interesting to note that the oddsmakers do not think Jones will get stripped nor do they think he’ll fight before the end of the year, which doesn’t bode well for what Thiago Santos would like to see happen.

Jon Jones needs help. His enablers keep failing him | Opinion

...Let’s make one thing clear before we go any further: Jones is responsible for his own actions. He’s an adult. He’s been warned more often than a little kid who keeps touching a hot stove.

But here’s another thing: Jones doesn’t exist in a vacuum. He makes a lot of money for lots of people, from the UFC to his management to his opponents. As long as Jones functions as a human ATM, people around him have a vested interest in looking the other way...

...This is on Jones, an adult who is responsible for his own actions. But it’s also on his management team for not getting a handle on things years ago (and also on those in the media who blithely played along with this charade in hopes of being handed scoops by said management, too).

It’s on White for sending Jones the clear and unambiguous message that the rules that apply to everyone else don’t apply to him.

It’s on the authorities in New Mexico for behaving like judges in our biggest cities who have one set of standards for the rich and famous and another for the rest of us.

Maybe you all had fun on Twitter making fun of Jones. I’ll admit to having a laugh watching the “other” Jon Jones swat down hate tweets meant for the fighter sent his way. But I’m not going to take any joy in watching a phenomenally talented human being spiral downward.

If Jones doesn’t get the real help he needs, then it’s as much on the people who chose leeching off him over doing what’s right at every step along the way.

Big John McCarthy (who now wears a suit and tie for Bellator) tears Bones a new asshole. Thinks he'll do time for this one, and opines that the UFC should drop him.

    No jail time.

Jones pleaded guilty to one count of drunk driving in exchange for a slap on the wrist. Four days house arrest wearing an ankle bracelet, 90-day outpatient treatment program, using an ignition interlock on his car for two years, 48 hours of community service, fines and court costs, and one year of supervised probation.

In his mind the worst of it all was that they harshed his buzz the night he got picked up.

Jon Jones is in my opinion the GOAT in MMA. I know a man is responsible for his own actions but where's his family, friends, team at? I hope he steps up and gets the help he needs.
