Details on UFC's "Fight Island"

You probably already know that "Fight Island" was Yas island at Abu Dhabi, site of the F1 Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina circuit. Abu Dhabi and its sister city, Dubai, both are spending oil money now by the truck-load so that the country will have something bringing in income when the oil runs out. Abu Dhabi spent big bucks to create the first foreign annex for the Louvre museum that the French approved of, and again to create the Yas Marina F1 circuit (which had to be built to very posh standards on account of all the high rollers F1 attracts), complete with a Ferrari-themed amusement park. Abu Dhabi also owns 10% of the UFC, which is why they were willing to spend a shit-ton of money creating a "corona-safe" venue for the four UFC events to be held there beginning with this coming Saturday's UFC 251: Usman vs. Masvidal.

Anyway, there were a couple of stories about Fight Island that came up this morning on the MMA Junkie's website that I found interesting.
