McGregor agrees to fight Poirier, but only if it happens this year

I think that since he no longer needs the money, McGregor does this shit just to give Dana White ulcers.

Conor McGregor accepts UFC offer to fight Dustin Poirier, but won’t wait

Conor McGregor on Thursday tweeted that he has accepted the UFC’s offer to fight Dustin Poirier in the Octagon… with one caveat. The fight has to take place in 2020.

McGregor started the year with a blistering finish of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the UFC 246 main event in January. He had planned to fight at least three to four times during his 2020 season. That didn’t happen.

The Irishman butted heads with the UFC over dates and opponents. Then the world nearly came to a standstill because of the coronavirus pandemic. With everything combined, McGregor’s frustration led him to announce his retirement from fighting in June....

This is a match I've been wanting to see for years. I've no doubt Dustin is game for it.

I believe this fight has a totally different result from the first.

My bet is on Dustin Poirier. I've met him before back in 2017. He's a really cool guy. Very humble, very classy.

Poirier stunned me the way he dominated Ferguson. He's definitely a more worthy opponent for Khabib than I gave him credit for before he manhandled Tony. And on a given day, especially when you're that near the top of the heap, if the stars line up just so, anybody can get beat. Rockhold -- Bisping 2 was proof of that.

I think you may mean Justin Gaethje. He recently finished Tony Ferguson very handily. And had a title unification bout with Khabib in a couple of weeks.

And I agree with you. Justin's wrestling experience as a collegiate division 1 all American is going to make it very difficult for Khabib to keep him down. I. Going to bet a little bit on Justin for that match.

Consequently, Justin gaethje has only been knocked out once really. And it was a ko loss to none other than Dustin poirier.

Dana says the fight is signed, UFC 257 on Jan. 23, 2021.

Or not. Now DW is saying that the fight isn't signed yet because he only today sent McGregor the contract.

Okay, now McGregor is really signed.
