Best Football players are from where?
Where do you think the best football players come from? Texas, California, or Florida?

I say Texas because I think we have the best HS competition and I think more guys are in the NFl from Texas originally than any where else (not the college the state of).

Texas all the way, baby. Florida has good ballplayers, too. One of my friends was going to college there and I must say I was impressed.

well ohio state is the best team in the country. And much of the players do come from ohio. Ginn, smith in particular, clarette, mike kudla, Aj hawk., chris wells, thats just a small small small percent and all these guys are from ohio
as a side note. A texas team flew up to play one of our teams a couple years ago, and got beat 50-7

If all the High school (Hs) players who made it to college stayed in Texas there would be a national championship team from a texas college every year. Hell if all the good hs players out of Houston went to University Of Houston they would be National Champions almost ever year. I wonder if the NFL was divided into state teams (like only one team per state compiled of players of that state origin) who would be The super Bowl winners?

All the good player from OHIO go to the Buckeyes only while texas players go to the longhorns, aggies, TCU, and Oklahoma not to mention all the other big name schools everyweher else in the country. . You can't even compare OHio to Texas be serious maybe calli or florida or maybe even Louisinia but Ohio Hell no.

Mississippi actually has more guys in the NFL per capita than any other state. So I'll go with them.

I agree...Ohio could give any of those states a run for their money.

you really don't have to look hard to see that texas has more division 1 players in football than any other state but alot of that is just the huge population of the state and football is king in texas and oklahoma more so than anywhere else. yes, football is big in alot of regions but not on the same level of these 2 states. no dout that california, florida and ohio are next in line but that's also because of population. i don't care for the state of texas one bit but i do like the fact so many kids have come across the red river to play for the sooners and help win 7 national championships.

i grew up in texas for 18 years before moving up to ohio. i can honestly say that the football program is big in texas. and a lot of good players come out of texas. but i can also say that ohio has some great players in the high school and college level. so it is kind of a toss up between the two. oh yeah florida has good players as well.

let me narrow it down for ya, i say florida, but i'll go as far as saying particularly UM:
taken from wikipedia:
'UM has been particularly successful in football, with one of the premier collegiate football programs in the nation. The Hurricanes have won five Division I national championships (1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001). UM won exactly half of the Division I national football championships between 1983 to 1991, with four national championships in eight years. All five of UM's national championships have come since 1983, making it the most successful college football program of the past 25 years (Nebraska is second during that time span with three national championships).
UM has produced two Heisman Trophy winners, Vinny Testaverde (in 1986) and Gino Torretta (in 1992). UM also has more of its graduates as active National Football League (NFL) players than any other university in the nation. Three former UM football players--Ted Hendricks, Jim Kelly, and Jim Otto--have been voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the highest accolade afforded former NFL players, following hugely successful NFL careers.'

i think the discussion is about players that are from a particular state and not where they end up goin to school at. miami does have an impressive program but they are not notre dame, oklahoma, nebraska, alabama, ohio state, michigan and maybe behind a couple more.

Lets narrow it down further. Whats the winningest program in the history of the NCAA?

since the a.p. poll (modern football) the oklahoma sooners have the best win/loss record and 7 national titles and also the ncaa div. 1 record of 47 consecutive wins. there's your answer. also the most points scored and the most award winners. i'll stop there.

I say Florida, the state has enough good players to keep three schools in the top 15 (usually). and still get a bunch heading to Gerogia. The sunshine state all the way
-

Id say Florida.

it's a very good argument but i think texas produces more "quality" football players than any other state. and after saying that i'll also say i do not like the state of texas one bit.

I'm from West Texas. So I would have to say Texas. But I also know that the Ohio, W. Penn area has come on real strong over the last couple of years. When I was playing, the big time athletes mainly hailed from Texas, Cali and Florida. Things are changing a bit, but I still think Texas produces the best (I guess I'm a bit biased!!!)

as far as ethnicity goes Samoans are the best. percentage 1 out of every 8 samoans in the united states plays college football. Staggering statistic, that is the highest among all ethnic groups.

I remember not so long ago reading an article in SI, and in it they talked about the NCAA scholarship distribution per state. I remember the states ranked 1. Texas 2. Ohio 3. Florida 4. California. So if you consider that college coaches are professionals, and rely on their own ability to spot talent to put food on their table, I'll take their pick and say Texas. That is just my opinion.
