15 year old
I have a good friend who's son plays soccer avidly. He does train really hard daily and is great at it. she recently asked if she should put him on any supplements or amino acids and has already started him on fish oil. I actually told her that at his age, he doesn't need to take anything. Recommended a flinstone vitamin and maybe some whey protein post training. but to leave the supplements and amino acids alone. He is so young and I believe there is plenty of time for that in the future. he would do well with plenty of water, good nutrition, plenty of rest, and at the most some whey protein.
What are some opinions on this? I'd hate to see her hand down a subconscious dependance on supplements and so forth at such an early age when just the fact that he is training now is already building a good foundation for later

I'm not 100% sure on the health risks if any but at that age creatine I'd wonders for me. Used it at climbing comps and always helped, long run helped me gain muscle faster then others on my team.

He only really needs food. He's just playing soccer yes? A good healthy balanced diet is all he needs.

Thanks guys. I'm nowhere near as knowledgable, that's why I wanted another opinion than my own.

I would rec:
a multiv/m
extra vitD
good fats (omegas, even a flax seed supp)
whey protein or plant protein powder
and possibly creatine if he really wants it
all this will also help his development. nothing wrong with amino acids at any age.
