I always wondered what the weight classes were exactly. When I found these, I thought it would be informative to post them here. The weight classes listed below are in compliance with the IFBB.

NOTE: A few organizational bodybuilding competitions omit some of the Senior Men's categories listed.


Senior Men's

Bantamweight: up to and incl 65kg (143lbs)Lightweight: up to and incl 70kg (154lbs)Welterweight: up to and incl 75kg (165lbs)Light-Middleweight: up to and incl 80kg (176lbs)Middleweight: up to and incl 85kg (187lbs)Light-heavyweight: up to and incl 90kg (198lbs)Heavyweight: over 90kg (198lbs)

Senior Women's

Lightweight: up to and incl 52kg (114lbs)Middleweight: up to and incl 57kg (125lbs)Heavyweight: over 57kg (125lbs)

Junior Men's

Lightweight: up to and incl 70kg (154lbs)Middleweight: up to and incl 80kg (176lbs)Heavyweight: over 80kg (176lbs)

Junior Women's
Women's junior classes follow the same guidelines as the senior women's.

Masters Men's
Competitors must be age 40 or older.

Masters Women's
Competitors must be age 35 or older.
