Contest Carb-Up?
Are these good choices for carbing up for a show?
Rice Cakes
Oatmeal
Sweet Taters
Angel Food Cake
Pancakes
Waffles

I tend to carb up with whatever is the main carb source in my diet at the time.
Mostly oats, yams or cream of rice.

You want o digest simple carbs within first 4 hours of your carb up, after that i would switch to cmoplex carbs such as potatoes, yams, Oatmeal...if you have no carb sources in your diet, i have a quiestion for you, are you flat or are your muscle bellies full....???...depending on that there is a few different aproches i would take here...XXL

Angel food cake & rice cakes.
A Waffle or two and syrup the morning of comp (5:30 am).
Another waffle or rice cakes and honey (9:30 am).
A few more rice cakes and honey before prejudging (11:00 am).
Is this a retarded approach?
I am open to any suggestions. . .

I'm sure Mike wants to respond to this.
My thoughts are you are so depleted how do you think you will ever fill out in a few hours? Day of show is going to be too late. You might look good later that next week.
If you are a flat as I would think you are you will need all week to fill back out. I think you need to start adding in carbs a full week out. Increase each day. What I don't know is your size, how your body responds to carbs etc.
So, you will need to add them in slowly through out the day.
Mike what do you think?

jmo, i dont think he would need a full week. worst case 5 days. I compete in lightweight and I wait until after weightin the DAY before to carb up. All depends on you and how your body reacts. Trial and error bro

Thanks for the responses. . .
Contest is over and I was just free-balling it all the way til I stepped on-stage. It is all trial and error and so highly individualized that experimentation is the only way to dial yourself in.

I would start on Monday before the show with dry oatmeal around 500gm of carbs worth, then on tuesday go down to 400gm of carbs, wednesday to 300gm of carbs, thursday to 250gm of carbs and same for friday, then saturday morning you can fat laod with anything you want...i would not train this week, maybe small workout on sunday before carb up...all meal consist of dry oatmeal and chicken, with a few almonds...god luck...XXL
